The role may involve a blended hybrid working model, with a mixture of working from home and working on site at one of our Leonardo offices to ensure close collaboration with the wider team and with our customers.\nWhat youwilldo as a Senior Network Engineer\nDesign, configure, and support network virtualisation solutions (e.g. VMware NSX) within secure and enterprise environments\n\nTake ownership of engineering delivery for one or more work packages, including planning, estimation, execution, and reporting.\n\nDevelop and review high- and low-level network designs and technical documentation.\n\nIntegrate and test network components, ensuring compliance with performance and security requirements.\n\nProvide mentoring, guidance, and technical leadership to Network Engineers and Technicians.\n\nCollaborate with stakeholders, project teams, and customers to ensure solutions meet requirements.\n\nDrive continuous improvement and contribute to engineering standards and governance.\n\nWhatyou’llbring\nStrong experience in designing, configuring, and supporting network virtualisation platforms (e.g. NSX or similar)\n\nAbility to balance hands-on engineering with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities.\n\nConfidence to take ownership of solutions and represent networking in technical discussions.\n\nCoreareas(must have):\nStrong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, and routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, QoS, VPNs, VLANs)\n\nNetwork virtualisation (NSX-T): design, configuration, and support of NSX-based networking environments\n\nSoftware-defined networking: implementation of logical switching, routing, and micro-segmentation\n\nIntegration of NSX networking within virtualised and platform environments (e.g. VCF)\n\nHands-on experience with Cisco or equivalent multi-vendor network equipment\n\nNetwork security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, segmentation)\n\nFamiliarity with virtualisation and cloud networking concepts\n\nNetwork monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools\n\nUnderstanding of ITIL and service management frameworks\n\nDelivery within secure / enterprise / defence environments\n\nDesirable:\nVMware NSX-T deep expertise and certification (or equivalent experience)\n\nVCF networking integration (vSphere,vSAN, Aria Suite)\n\nOverlay / underlay network design concepts\n\nAutomation of network configuration (Ansible, Terraform, APIs)\n\nIntegration with security tooling (SIEM, SOC platforms)\n\nCloud networking (AWS, Azure) and hybrid connectivity\n\nExperience working in secure or regulated environments\n\nThis is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above.
