The role will be responsible for developments that span the AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) Core Delivery Team (CDT) and Power Systems CDT. This is an opportunity to work on an exciting and growing large-scale project. This role will be based at our Edinburgh Site and you will be joining a team with a rich heritage in Engineering, as part of Leonardo’s 100 years’ experience of pioneering development.\nThis role will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver the project, working in a in a highly collaborative environment. The PEL will provide the engineering leadership, in close partnership with the Project Engineering Manager, and Chief Engineer, to identify, develop, deliver and support technical solutions.\nThe PEL is responsible for providing engineering leadership to a multi-disciplinary engineering team throughout the project lifecycle to deliver the project’s plan on time, in budget and to quality standards. This will include ensuring that lifecycle reviews are held, that reporting mechanisms are in place, that a high level of motivation is maintained within the team and ensuring a consistently high level of performance is achieved by the team. The successful candidate will ensure the engineering team delivers the \"best value\" solution compliant with the customer's technical and budgetary requirements as well as all contractual, safety and legislative standards.\nThe Project Engineering Lead for the AESA and Power Core Delivery Team will:\nProduce effective, efficient and realistic plans to deliver the solution, working closely and effectively with all stakeholders.\n\nEnsure effective implementation of the company's Lifecycle Management processes, including design & gate reviews.\n\nAgree qualification & acceptance criteria and design certification with the System Design Authority.\n\nValidate and meet targets for the development of design maturity.\n\nDeliver all engineering aspects of the monthly Project Performance Reviews.\n\nPromote streamlined ways of working across the engineering lifecycle in order to be competitive, ensuring re-use and modularity across proposed solutions.\n\nEstablish and maintain good lines of communication across the Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) and upwards to the IPT lead and Engineering Leadership, managing and communicating any issues to senior management.\n\nSupport the management of suppliers and project make-or-buy decisions.\n\nControl project configuration and change management\n\nWork closely with the Engineering team and Project Manager to resolve technical or programme conflicts.\n\nEnsure that the design rationale is fully documented.\n\nWhat you’ll bring\nDegree (BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc, PhD) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.\n\nDemonstrated broad and deep experience with designing, developing and testing electronic, Radio Frequency (RF) and power systems.\n\nKnowledge of a typical Engineering lifecycle process and business processes.\n\nThe ability to produce clear concise engineering documentation, with good written and verbal communication skills.\n\nGood schedule and budget control.\n\nExperience communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, across multiple sites.\n\nStrong leadership competency whilst demonstrating team working skills.\n\nA willingness to travel within the UK and possibly overseas\n\nIt would be nice if you had:\nExtensive experience leading teams that have integrated systems and sub-systems together.\n\nExperience of working within the areas of Radar, EO/IR and/or Communications.\n\nExperience leading teams developing integrated solutions for airborne environments.\n\nExperience working with system design/system architecture.\n\nAchieved Chartered Engineer status or similar.\n\nThis is not an exhaustive list, and we are keen to hear from you even if you might not have experience in all the above.
