The infrastructure includes on-premises cloud platforms, virtualisation, Linux systems, container platforms, storage, networking, monitoring and automation services used by multiple ESA missions.\nAs an MOI-IT System Engineer, you will contribute to the design, deployment, operation and continuous evolution of highly available IT platforms supporting mission-critical operations. Working in a multidisciplinary team, you will participate throughout the entire system lifecycle, from requirements engineering and architecture to implementation, validation and operational support.\nDuties\nReporting to the Head of Section, your responsibilities will include:\nDesigning and maintaining mission-critical IT infrastructure supporting ESA spacecraft operations.\nEngineering Linux-based server platforms and virtual infrastructure.\nDesigning, deploying and operating Kubernetes-based container platforms.\nManaging enterprise storage solutions, including Ceph and distributed storage technologies.\nMaintaining databases and associated backup and recovery solutions.\nDeveloping Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management solutions using Ansible and Git.\nDesigning and implementing CI/CD pipelines for automated software deployment.\nIntegrating systems with LDAP/Active Directory identity management services.\nImplementing secure authentication, certificate lifecycle management and PKI solutions.\nSupporting mission-specific IT environments during development, validation and operations.\nPerforming system integration, acceptance testing and operational readiness activities.\nMonitoring system performance, analysing incidents and performing root-cause investigations.\nProviding second- and third-line engineering support for operational services.\nProducing High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), operational procedures and technical documentation.\nSupporting technology evolution projects and infrastructure modernisation initiatives.\nContributing to cybersecurity hardening following ESA security policies and industry best practices.\nParticipating in technical reviews, design reviews and anomaly investigations.\nTechnical Environment\nThe successful candidate will work with technologies such as:\nRed Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) / Ubuntu / SLES\nKubernetes\nPodman / LXD Containers\nCeph Storage\nVMware / KVM virtualisation\nPostgreSQL / MySQL / MariaDB\nGit\nAnsible\nJenkins / GitLab CI\nPython / Bash scripting\nPrometheus & Grafana\nLDAP / Active Directory\nPKI & TLS Certificates\nNGINX\nDNS, DHCP, NTP\nEnterprise Networking\nSAN/NAS storage\nMonitoring and logging platforms\nRequired Qualifications\nMaster's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.\nSeveral years of professional experience in Linux systems engineering.\nExperience designing and operating highly available IT infrastructures.\nExperience with container orchestration technologies, preferably Kubernetes.\nExperience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code.\nGood understanding of networking principles.\nExperience with enterprise storage technologies.\nKnowledge of database administration.\nExperience with scripting using Python or Bash.\nFamiliarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.\nGood analytical and troubleshooting skills.\nAbility to work in multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nExcellent communication skills in English.\nDesirable Experience\nExperience in one or more of the following areas would be considered an asset:\nSpace mission operations\nGround segment engineering\nHigh-performance computing\nCybersecurity\nCloud-native technologies\nDistributed storage systems\nIdentity and Access Management\nDisaster Recovery planning\nOperational monitoring systems\nService Management (ITIL)\nAgile and DevOps methodologies\nBehavioural Competencies\nResults Orientation\nProblem Solving\nContinuous Improvement\nTeamwork\nCustomer Focus\nInnovation\nPlanning and Organisation\nTechnical Excellence\nWhat We Offer\nYou will contribute to the IT infrastructure supporting ESA's scientific and operational missions, working with modern technologies in a highly collaborative international environment.
