You'll be the senior hands-on owner of the\ndatabase layer beneath them: its availability, performance, security and recovery. You'll work with engineering and\noperations to keep it fast, resilient and audit-ready as volumes grow.\nWhat you'll own\nDesign, build and run production database platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL) across on-premises and\ncloud.\nDeliver high availability and disaster recovery, with tested failover and recovery objectives you can prove.\nTune query and platform performance before slow queries become incidents.\nPlan and execute migrations, upgrades and patching with minimal downtime.\nDefine and enforce database security: access control, encryption, auditing and compliance evidence.\nAutomate provisioning, backup, monitoring and alerting using infrastructure as code.\nLead database incident response and root-cause reviews through to permanent fixes.\nWhat you bring\n6+ years in database administration or infrastructure engineering on high-volume production systems.\nDeep, hands-on expertise in at least two of SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MySQL.\nProven experience with replication, clustering, backup and recovery design.\nStrong performance tuning skills: execution plans, indexing, locking and capacity planning.\nInfrastructure-as-code and scripting experience (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell or Python).\nExperience with monitoring and observability tooling.\nWorking knowledge of regulated environments (PCI DSS, SOX or similar).\nNice to have\nCloud-managed database experience (AWS RDS/Aurora or Azure SQL).\nExperience in payments, banking or other transaction-heavy environments.\nKubernetes or containerised database workloads.\nOur culture - what we expect from you\nLesaka is a fast-paced fintech.
