The position is a senior technical role requiring leadership qualities.\nKEY PERFORMANCE AREAS\nThe successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:\nLV and MV Systems Engineering (conceptual & detail design and development of electrical systems and networks)\nDesign, specification, and execution of electrical systems for industrial plants\nDesign of LV & MV Motor Control Centres\nDesign of LV & MV industrial plant reticulation systems\nDesign of DC plant and battery systems\nDesign of renewable energy systems\nDesign of protection systems\nSpecification of Electrical Switchgear and Motor Protection Equipment\nDesign of cable networks and distribution systems\nLighting and small power designs\nDesign of earthing and lightning protection systems\nEnsure design compliance with the South African Grid Code\nManaging the electrical interfaces with other disciplines\nParticipation in and management of procurement and installation contracts and documentation, including tender evaluation.\nAssistance during the fabrication phase of all projects\nAssisting with tender compilation\nProject cost estimations (including the compilation of Bill of Quantities (BOQs)\nCompilation of tender scope of work.\nAssisting with testing and commissioning of electrical systems\nMentoring of junior personnel\nQUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE\nBSc (Eng) or B Eng degree in Electrical Engineering.\nRegistered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer.\nMinimum 10 years relevant multi-disciplinary project design experience, especially in the Power Generation Industry.\nMinimum 5 years' experience designing PV Systems.\nWorking knowledge of OHS Act and the Regulations.\nWorking knowledge of the Environmental Legislation.\nWorking knowledge of SANS & IEC codes, Safety Management Standards and ISO 9001.\nKnowledge and experience with the South African Grid Code.\nCOMPETENCIES\n\nKnowledge:\nTechnical report writing (understanding of technical documentation standards and formats)\nETAP or DigSilent software (understanding of power system analysis tools)\nMicrosoft Office applications\nSkills:\nGood communication and technical report writing\nProficiency in Microsoft Office\nUse of ETAP or DigSilent\nProblem solving ability\nPlanning, organizing, administration and time management skills\nBehaviours:\nAbility to operate under pressure in a team environment\nFast and accurate worker who is results driven\nAbility to work independently\nGood people skills\nAssertivness\nPro-active disposition\nAbility and willingness to work
