They hence must ensure compliance to and effective implementation of Let’s Build Child Safety Policy all the time.\nROLE PURPOSE\nThe Construction Coordinator will provide technical expertise and guidance support in construction activities with a focus on quantity surveying related activities and, in the coordination, planning and delivery of Let’s Build school infrastructure. In addition, the role holder will support project management and contract administration. The Construction Coordinator should have technical knowledge and skills related to quantity surveying and construction coordination including assistance with site assessments, documentation for school selection and support in managing Consultants and Contractors on site.\nSCOPE OF ROLE\nReports to: The Country Director \nStaff reporting to this post: None\nContract Length: One Year\nRole Dimensions:\nSupport in quantity surveying and in the implementation of the whole construction programme cycle\nReview of documentation and increased visibility of Let’s Build school infrastructure.\nSupport in contract administration and management of Consultants.\nProvision of technical support in resolving construction issues.\nDevelopment of construction budgets, cost estimates, cost reports\nCoordination of Contractors final reconciliations and Interim Payments Certificate (IPCs).\nSupport in payment administration to Consultants and Contractors.\nKEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY\nDevelop construction cost estimates, cost reports and budgets\nCoordinate Contractors final reconciliations and Interim Payments Certificate (IPCs) including developing Interim Payment Certificate templates and reviewing Contractors’ Payment Certificates from Consultants.\nSupport in the programme management, contract administration and management of Consultants engaged by Let’s Build\nAssist is site assessments and review of site plans and associated documentation for school selection.\nAssist in developing tender package documents i.e. Bill of Quantities, cost estimates and invitation to tender including all templates for the procurement of Consultants and Contractors.\nAssist in ensuring Consultants and construction work follow all Government and Let’s Build policies and contractual requirements.\nLead in the documentation and visibility for all Let’s Build construction and non-construction works including community engagement activities and site handovers to Contractors.\nRecognize, report, and solve problems in a creative, positive, and constructive way and make recommendations for improvements in systems, procedures, and policies.\nParticipate in meetings with Government officials, Consultants and Contractors and in site meetings and any other community meetings whenever necessary.\nConduct field visits and prepare all construction-related reports as per agreed schedules.\nCultivate strategic relationships with Government officials to ensure construction takes place with quality and within the required timelines.\nSupport in Due Diligence exercise and evaluation of Contractors and Consultants.\nAssist in reviewing all submittals from the Consultant.\nProvide technical support as and when needed during implementation of construction works.\nQUALIFICATIONS \nBachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying – Required\nRegistered Quantity Surveyor with relevant professional body – Preferred\nMaster’s Degree in construction related field – Added Advantage\nDiploma/Certificate or demonstrable experience in documentation, site planning, AutoCAD/Revit/ArchiCAD- Added Advantage\nEXPERIENCE AND SKILLS\nAt least five (5) years of experience in the construction industry\nProven experience in overseeing the construction of schools or other similar construction projects.\nProven experience in cost management, managing Contractors on construction sites and in managing Consultants.\nDemonstrated experience in producing construction cost estimates, cost reports and final reconciliations for Contractors\nProven experience in construction projects management.\nProven experience in preparation of Bills of Quantity and tender documents estimates.\nProven experience in administering Interim payments certificates.\nExperience in documentation, site planning, and using computer aided construction software e.g AutoCAD/Revit/ArchiCAD – Added Advantage\nExperience in working with community led construction procedures.\nStrong English language communication skills – both verbal and written.\nComputer literate\nAbility to collaborate with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, including community, government, and international consultants.\nThe ability to travel extensively within Malawi is required.\nLET’S BUILD OFFER \nOpportunity to be a member of an agile construction organization in Malawi.
