You will have the opportunity to influence how security is embedded across our technology environment, working with colleagues across the Council, Shared Technology Services (STS) and other technology partners.\nWhat you'll be doing\nThis is a varied role with the opportunity to make a real impact. You will:\nHelp shape our cyber security strategy and improvement roadmap, ensuring our approach continues to evolve as technology and cyber threats change.\nProvide security assurance for new technology, projects and digital solutions, challenging and supporting teams to understand and manage security risks.\nLead on cyber risk, governance and compliance, supporting the Council in meeting relevant government and industry security requirements.\nWork closely with STS and other technology suppliers, providing oversight and challenge around security controls, vulnerabilities and risks.\nLead and coordinate our response to security incidents, ensuring lessons are captured and improvements are embedded.\nProvide trusted security advice to senior leaders, translating complex technical issues into clear business risks and practical actions.\nHelp build a strong security culture, working with colleagues across IT & Digital Services and the wider Council.\nWhat’s in it for you?\nExcellent training and development opportunities, plus a range of benefits including:\nGenerous holiday allowance\nLocal Government Pension scheme\nFlexible working and family friendly policies\nSeason ticket and bicycle loans\nA range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships\nSupportive staff networks\nWhat we’re looking for\nWe are looking for an experienced cyber security professional who can combine strong technical understanding with leadership, judgement and the ability to influence.\nYou'll be comfortable working across a large and complex organisation, building relationships with technical specialists, suppliers and senior stakeholders. You'll be able to challenge constructively, make sense of complex security issues and communicate them clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nYou'll bring experience across areas such as security strategy and governance, cyber risk, security assurance, incident management and compliance, together with an ability to get things done through collaboration and influence.\nLocation\nThe job is primarily based in Laurence House, but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.\nSpecial conditions\nThe recruitment process is anonymous and we don’t accept CVs.\nApplicant handbook - please read the guidance in this handbook when applying.
