Join us and help shape the future of Lhoist North America.\nPOSITION SUMMARY:\nThe Safety Supervisor will provide direct Health and Safety leadership to the Lowell plant. This role may also provide H&S support to other Minerals plants and terminals and participate on the H&S audit team.\nRESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:\nHealth and Safety\nResponsible for compliance with MSHA regulations including employee training, delivery, and documentation:\nMaintain records in accordance with company/location policy.\nLead on all accident and incident investigations for facilities in area of responsibility.\nAssist Health and Safety with reports to Workers’ Compensation and monitor Workers’ Compensation claims.\nAssist Health and Safety in the completion and submittal of any company, local, state or federal agency reports.\nProvide the necessary documentation to Regional Safety& Health Manager and Plant Manager to demonstrate personnel training\nTrain employees on relevant procedures, practices, and regulations\nSupport site contractor audit process.\nParticipate and be a leader in Plant and Regional Safety projects and supporting efforts.\nDevelop a system to periodically review and audit health and safety programs.\nPerform and assist in the development of Job Safety Analysis and work with site managers to develop safe and compliant work procedures\nProvide front end input for safety and compliance on all capital projects, equipment or process changes.\nEnsure compliance and maintenance of company/site Industrial Hygiene program.\nCreate best practices for safety protocol implementation and follow up.\nManage all site safety functions including walking with MSHA and conducting site specific training\nMaintain all site safety documentation\nArrange/hold annual MSHA refresher training as appropriate\nHold safety meetings as appropriate\nSafety Program\nPerform routine inspections of site and equipment\nCoordinate safety recognition programs for consistency\nDevelop a system to periodically review and audit health and safety programs\nCoordinate safety committee functions\nDevelop and assist in delivering routine safety meetings.\nPerform / Assist in the development of Task Training checklist and work with managers to develop safe and compliant work procedures.\nOversee site Safety Management System.\nAssist/Manage the analysis of compliance programs and develop best practices.\nProvide front end input for safety and compliance on all capital projects, equipment or process changes.\nEnsure compliance and maintenance of company/site safety procedures.\nImplement and audit company safety standards\nMaintain site files including MSHA and safety records, and personnel files\nPull and report working hours for MSHA reporting using SAP\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nATTRIBUTES:\nEffective communicator to articulate a given situation ensuring positive customer satisfaction.\nKnowledgeable of state and federal laws, regulations, and agencies (MSHA, DOT), the regulatory process, and the procedure for obtaining information is preferred. \nAbility to influence change with key personnel at all levels of the organization.\nExtremely dependable. The time-sensitive nature of the position requires excellent attendance and complete customer focus.\nBehavioral competencies include tolerance for stress, practical learning, adaptability, multi-tasking, teamwork, planning and organizing.\nKnowledge of SAP, CRM, SRM, VIM, Microsoft Office, background experience with work processing, document control, administration, preparation of spreadsheets, graphs and charts and presentation skills.\nAbility to reach deadlines and multi-task.\nAdvanced spelling and grammar skills, as well as phone skills and organizational skills\nMust be able to demonstrate strong typing skills and adaptability to changing environment. \nFlexible schedule to accommodate the business’ needs. Administrative training or certification and/or AA degree in Health and Safety, business, management, English, HR, related field and/or equivalent work experience in the field is desired.\nPREFFERED EDUCATION:\nBS degree in Health and Safety, Management, English, Business or HR or administrative related field.undefined\nREQUIRED EXPERIENCE:\nMust have 2-4 years of progressive operations safety support responsibilities in a manufacturing, shipping or mining environment. Proven ability of supporting multiple groups within an organization is required.
