Liberty Mutual has an immediate opening for a Claims Operations Manager. As a member of the GRS North America (NA) Claims Enablement Operations team, this role will be aligned with the North America Specialty (NAS) Claims operations. NAS lines of business include Healthcare, Environmental Risk, Financial Lines, Global Transaction Solutions (GTS) Americas, Cyber Claims, and Bermuda.
We are looking for a candidate with proven project management skills, strong problem-solving ability, and a track record of collaborative thought partnership with senior leaders - not simply an interest in these areas, but demonstrated capabiity developing results through them. In this role, you will serve as a strategic, collaborative thought partner to senior GRS NA Claims leadership, working alongside them - not just in support of them - to structure problems, weigh options, and shape decisions on annual planning, budgeting, quality control, regulatory compliance, and change management.
The successful candidate will bring demonstrated, hands-on experience managing complex projects end-to-end, applying structured problem-solving methods to resolve ambiguous operational challenges, and partnering collaboratively with senior leaders to co-develop solutions rather than simply execute direction. This includes experience with goal setting, establishing effective leader management systems, and navigating multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities. Effective communication and influence skills at all levels of the organization and 3+ years experience working in a GRS NA Claims operation are essential.
Willing to consider grade 16 or 17 based on experience.
This role will have an in-office work requirement if located within a 50-mile radius of a GRS NA Claims office. There will be occasional business travel.
Responsibilities
- Supports GRS NA Claims leadership with LOB communications, planning, budgeting, staffing, quality control, regulatory compliance, financial management, resource allocation and problem solving.
- Collaborates cross-functionally to establish performance goals (operational & individual) & an effective measurement strategy
- Identifies and eliminates operational barriers that impact efficiency and execution.
- Owns day to day operational field support, monitors health of LOB using insights and trends, advocates for field needs, and escalate risks accordingly
- Supports change management of Process work and ensures field adoption
- Manages existing and new claims-related programs; ensures compliance with policies and procedures and participates in quality control initiatives and programs.
- Gathers, organizes, and analyzes data or processes/practices in order to identify local issues, trends and opportunities; presents findings, options and recommendations to leadership.
- Manages projects of moderate complexity, which may include in-depth research/analysis. Participates in various cross-functional working groups and ensures leadership is kept up-to-date on activities and impacts.
- Supports achieving and maintaining effective controls as determined by performance on all Internal Audit and State compliance measures including, but not limited to, key controls, licensing, state regulations, etc.
- Provides voice of the business insight in cross-functional working teams to influence design requirements & prioritization of Technology, Data, and other critical initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of 6 years of progressively more responsible related work experience required and two to four years of supervisory or management experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of company operating structure, management team, insurance products and claims policies and procedures
- General understanding of company insurance systems and technology support
- Industry certifications preferred (eg, CPCU, AIC)

- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization and clearly and concisely express opinions, conclusions and recommendations
