The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ABB platforms and a strong understanding of crane control systems. Experience with other PLC systems such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider Electric is highly valued.\nKey Elements of the Role:\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to the following:\nDesign, program, and maintain ABB PLC-based control systems for STS cranes.\nDevelop automation logic using ABB Automation Builder, Control Builder, and IEC 61131-3 languages.\nIntegrate PLCs with HMI/SCADA systems for real-time monitoring and diagnostics.\nTroubleshoot and optimize control systems to ensure safe and efficient crane operations.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers.\nSupport system commissioning, testing, and documentation at port terminals.\nEnsure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.\nProvide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams.\nQualifications, Requirements and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.\nMinimum 3 years of experience in industrial PLC programming.\nStrong proficiency with ABB PLCs (AC500, AC800M) and related tools.\nFamiliarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, Profinet).\nAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.\nWillingness to travel for site installations and commissioning.\nAdvantageous Experience:\nExperience with Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley RSLogix, or other PLC platforms.\nKnowledge of STS crane systems, motion control, and safety interlocks.\nFamiliarity with marine terminal operations and container handling equipment.\nExperience with SCADA systems, HMI development, and remote diagnostics.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive Salary\nPaid overtime\nEnd of Year Bonus\nPension Scheme\nService Pay\nEarly finish on a Friday\n21 days annual leave + Length of service days\nCompany Fixed Days\nSubsidised canteen\nSports and Social Club\nRetailer Discounts\nLife Assurance\nRefer a friend Scheme\nMaternity Pay\nEducational assistance\nCareer Progression Opportunities\n**Please note, CV's will not be accepted directly by email.\n**We do not require the assistance of recruitment agencies for this role.\nHave we awoken your interest?
