How you’ll contribute

An Emergency Services Technician (ER Tech) who excels in this role:

  • Greets patients and visitors. Answers, screens, and routes telephone calls. Calls codes, pages, and overhead announcements as requested.
  • Enters nursing requests subject to the approval of a licensed nurse. Asks for clarification when necessary.
  • Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient records and charts.
  • Performs needed clerical tasks, including copying, filing, and ordering/stocking supplies.
  • Assists RNs and physicians with other patient activities as needed.
  • Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
  • Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
  • Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.

What we're looking for

An applicant who has successfully completed Graduated from an approved EMT Paramedic or EMT Intermediate program.

Additional requirements include:

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire;
  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Licenses: Certified Nursing Aide license is preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    Graduated from an approved EMT Paramedic or EMT Intermediate program.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience.
