Consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient. Performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications.\nReports to: Department Director\nFLSA: Non-exempt\nEducation: Associate degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program\nLicenses: Respiratory Therapist - Registered Respiratory Therapist; Registered Respiratory Therapist and/or Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist\nCertifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) at time of employment; AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) at time of employment; AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of employment; AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of employment.\nRequired Skills\nRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.\nEssential Functions\nMeasures lung capacity and analyzes blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.\nDelivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.\nEvaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.\nResponds to codes and calls for emergent assistance.
