From large multi-aircraft projects to small custom projects, LifePort supplies the industry’s largest aerospace OEMs and end users with the finest aviation solutions today.\nPosition Summary:\nThe Engineering Manager will lead the design and development of aircraft interior cabinetry and galley systems, ensuring that safety, functionality, manufacturability, and certification requirements are met. This role leads the development engineering team and partners with other functions to deliver on time solutions. The ideal candidate has strong technical leadership and experience developing aircraft interiors or complex cabinetry systems from concept through production.\nEssential Functions:\nLead department activities to develop new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures while enforcing a positive and professional working environment\nManage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and designers, fostering technical excellence and accountability\nConfer with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products\nEstablish design strategies that balance safety, weight, functionality, manufacturability, cost, and schedule within a formalized product development process\nEnsure designs comply with applicable aviation regulations, customer requirements, and certification standards\nLead technical resolution of design issues, manufacturing challenges, and in-service problems\nCollaborate with Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Certification, Supply Chain, and customers throughout the product lifecycle\nDrive design standardization, continuous improvement, and development of innovative interior solutions\nChampion engineering processes, tools, and best practices that improve product quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery and provide technical guidance on materials, hardware, structures, mechanisms, and manufacturing processes \nForecast operating costs to facilitate the preparation of the overall department budget.\nAdvise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations\nEnsure correct interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to all engineering activities by the department\nMaintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner\nForecast capacity and ensure projects are delivered on time for both external and internal customers.\nSupervision of staff to include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems\nDevelop new and review existing policies, procedures, and practices for increased quality and efficiency.\nTravel up to 10% \nQualifications\nJob Specifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):\nAbility to set priorities, track progress, meet deadlines, and multitask\nExcellent organization skills with strong attention to detail\nExcellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required\nExcellent communication, both written and verbal\nWork independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative\nWorking knowledge of FAA and MIL testing standards preferred\nExperience with FAA and military certification\nMust be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)\nExperience in SolidWorks and Enterprise PDM\nAdvanced knowledge of aerospace materials and standards and fabrication methods of aircraft cabinetry using composite materials\nEducation, Certifications and Experience:\nBS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 10+ years’ related experience \n4+years’ experience leading teams of design and/or certification engineers and managing engineering projects\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment:\nWorking conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.\nAll employees are expected to adhere to Company safety policies and wear personal protective equipment when exposed to work areas or performing tasks where it is required.\nPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
