Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Redwood City, CA, Liftoff has a diverse, global presence.\nAbout the Role\nIn this role, you’ll operate as Liftoff’s technical accounting expert-drafting and reviewing technical memos, guiding policy, and ensuring that our financial statements appropriately reflect accounting for complex transactions. You’ll be tackling some of the most complex and innovative transactions in the industry, often operating at the frontier of accounting standards where clear precedent doesn’t yet exist. If you thrive on solving problems that even Big 4 National Offices debate, and enjoy turning ambiguity into well-reasoned, defensible positions, this role will keep you constantly challenged and engaged.\nResponsibilities\nResearch and document technical accounting positions (revenue, stock based compensation (SBC), leases, debt, capitalized software (CapSW)).\nPrepare journal entry support for complex accounting areas (SBC, CapSW, Debt, significant non-recurring transactions, etc).\nOwn accounting policies \nDrive implementation of new accounting standards from initial research to operationalization and disclosure impact.\nOwn equity-related technical accounting from review of grant setup in Equity Edge Online (EEO) to disclosures.\nPrepare statement of equity and statement of cash flows, as well as financial statement footnotes for complex areas, including earnings per share and stock-based compensation, and stockholders’ equity.\nPrepare SBC expense support for quarterly journal entries\nAssist in preparation and tie out of Proxy disclosures\nCollaborate with Legal, FP&A, and business teams on new contracts and billing structures.\nSupport audits with technical documentation.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, and 6 years of experience\nCPA required\nPublic accounting experience, ideally Big 4 experience\nExpertise in US GAAP\nOwnership and accountability: Take ownership of deliverables, deadlines, risks, and outcomes while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and quality. \nPrioritization and execution: Manage competing priorities and tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. \nExcellent analytical skills and the ability to accurately interpret data.\nStrong communication skills: clearly communicate complex technical accounting matters to cross-functional stakeholders and auditors. \nAdaptability: remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and adapt to evolving business, accounting and reporting requirements. \nLocation:\nLiftoff follows a philosophy of \"remote first, come together meaningfully\" and allows employees to be based from a number of different states where we have entities. We require that this role work during Pacific time zone; working from the San Francisco Bay Area is highly preferred. \nTravel Expectations:\nWe offer several opportunities for in-person team gatherings, including but not limited to project meetings, regional meetups, and company-wide events.
