The Principal Licensing Engineer will perform engineering regulatory analysis, conduct licensing engagements, and develop regulatory submittals for Lightbridge Fuel for various types of water-cooled reactors, in support of qualifying and commercializing Lightbridge Fuel.\nResponsibilities:\nDeveloping and leading topic specific regulatory engagements and/or submittals.\nDeveloping regulatory analysis and managing regulatory requirements for specific topics.\nReviewing technical information provided in submittals to ensure alignment between Lightbridge’s regulatory request and the technical bases provided.\nCommunicating licensing approach, and regulatory requirements to technical and stakeholder organizations.\nPreparing technical and licensing teams for and leading receipt of topic specific regulatory audits.\nDrafting or supporting the drafting of and coordinating technical & licensing teams’ formal responses to regulatory requests for additional information.\nManage schedules and resources for assigned scopes of work.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBS Degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field + 5 years relevant experience, or MS Degree in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field + 4 years relevant experience, or PhD in Nuclear Engineering or closely related field + 3 years relevant experience. For exceptional candidates, relevant work experience may substitute for years of experience.\nExperience interacting with at least one of the following governmental agencies in a licensing or regulatory affairs capacity: U.S. NRC, CNSC, ONR, ASNR, FANR, DOE, NNSA, NR, and state-level nuclear regulator. Experience working with 2 or more of these organizations is advantageous.\nWorking experience at operating reactors and/or fuel production facilities.\nWorking experience with nuclear fuel designs and associated regulatory submittals.\nGeneral understanding of reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, safety analysis, special materials transportation licensing, fuel cycle facility licensing, or nuclear fuel design. Experience in area of metallic fuels, especially U-Zr, is advantageous.\nFamiliarity with ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements.\nExperience working closely with industry, national laboratories, and nuclear regulators is advantageous.\nDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment.\nStrong analytical and problem-salving skills.\nExcellent oral and written communication skills.\nAbility to access US National Labs and other relevant facilities where Lightbridge projects are conducted.\nAbility to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.\n\nLightbridge is committed to supporting the people who power our mission.
