It means being a trusted partner to our clients, someone who can understand their business challenges, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and translate ideas into practical, high-value solutions. We look for engineers who combine technical depth with consulting instincts: people who are curious, adaptable, collaborative, and committed to continuous learning. We embrace modern engineering practices, leverage AI thoughtfully, and take ownership to deliver results that make a difference.\nAbout the Position\nWe’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Perception Engineering to help our clients build autonomous vehicle systems that safely perceive and understand the world around them. You’ll partner closely with customers to design, develop, integrate, and deploy perception software for robotics and autonomous platforms while helping shape the technical direction and delivering high-quality production systems.\nThe ability to think holistically about business problems, technology, and long-term outcomes will serve you well. As a player/coach, you’ll remain deeply involved in the day-to-day delivery while mentoring less experienced engineers across both LiminalArc and our client teams. You’ll be successful if you consistently get stuff done, help your team get stuff done, and do it in the right way.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or related field.\nA strong desire to learn and solve complex robotics and autonomous vehicle problems.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nExcellent collaborator who can successfully work across different teams and disciplines.\nExperience designing, debugging, and optimizing multithreaded C++ applications.\nStrong understanding of software architecture and modern C++ development.\nStrong understanding of using machine learning and AI in embedded C++ environments.\nAdvanced knowledge of linear algebra, probabilistic estimation, and coordinate transformations.\nExperience mentoring junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, and technical guidance.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or related field.\n4+ years of experience developing perception systems for autonomous vehicles or robotics platforms.\nExperience integrating and calibrating LiDAR, radar, cameras, or ultrasonic sensors.\nExperience developing Robot Operating System (ROS/ROS2) applications.\nExperience developing algorithms for object detection, classification, tracking, or sensor fusion.\nExperience working in customer-facing professional service engagements.\nExperience working in Agile environments using TDD, Scrum, XP, and Kanban.\nResponsibilities\nLead the design, development, and deployment of perception algorithms for LiDAR, radar, camera, and sensor fusion applications for autonomous platforms.\nArchitect real-time C++ processing pipelines for object detection, classification, tracking, and sensor fusion in embedded environments.\nDefine sensor selection criteria, integration standards, and validation processes for new and existing perception systems.\nDrive resolution of complex or non-standard perception failures through root cause analysis and algorithm refinement.\nCollaborate cross-functionally with planning, controls, and systems engineers to align perception outputs with broader autonomy architecture.\nDeploy and configure perception systems at customer sites, providing technical leadership during integration.\nPartner with clients to gather technical requirements and understand priorities and timelines.\nLeverage AI thoughtfully to improve development workflows.\nProvide estimates for tasks and work items and deliver them in a consistent, timely manner.\nBreak work items into smaller, more manageable tasks to improve estimation activities.\nPerform code reviews on pull requests and provide targeted feedback for improvements.\nParticipate in design discussions, evaluate tradeoffs, and recommend pragmatic solutions.\nProduce technical documentation, diagrams, and design artifacts when needed and appropriate.\nIdentify technical risks, concerns, or issues and proactively work to drive resolution.\nUphold engineering excellence by adhering to established practices, standards, and guidelines.\nContinuously evaluate development workflows to identify potential process improvements.\nTechnical Skills\nThis is not an exhaustive list, but includes many of the skills and technologies we use to develop solutions for our customers. As a Senior Software Engineer - Perception Engineer, we expect senior-level proficiency with many of the following:\nProgramming Languages: Modern C++, Python, MATLAB\nOperating Systems: Linux\n Robotics: Robot Operating System (ROS/ROS2)\nPerception Sensors: LiDAR, radar, cameras, ultrasonic sensors\nPerception Algorithms: Sensor fusion, object detection, object classification, object tracking\nAI/ML: Computer vision, embedded AI inference\nMathematics: Linear algebra, coordinate system transformations, least-squares estimation\nAI-Assisted Development: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, Cursor\nDevOps and CI/CD: Git, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps\n Planning and Delivery: Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub Projects\nLocation and Travel\nThis is a billable, client-facing position located in Logan, Utah. Weekly on-site travel is required and should be taken into consideration when applying.\nAbout LiminalArc\nAt LiminalArc, we help companies navigate change with confidence. By combining business consulting, engineering excellence, and AI-driven innovation, we partner with our clients to solve complex challenges and deliver high-value outcomes. We believe the future belongs to those that know how to combine human judgment with AI, not just as a tool, but as a new way of thinking and approach to solving problems. That's the future we're helping our clients build, and it's the future we're building ourselves. If you're excited by challenging work, continuous learning, and making a meaningful impact, we'd love to meet you.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6216,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":4,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Continuous learning"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["IT Consulting & Digital Transformation","Management Consulting"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-12T00:44:29Z"}],"liveness":{"score":19,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.529,"p_room":0.36,"age_days":71,"expected_fill_days":42,"reasons":["conf:18","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-01T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/liminalarc-senior-software-engineer-perception-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/liminalarc-senior-software-engineer-perception-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T09:53:33Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":729,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":4271,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
