May improve production methods, determine manufacturing capacity, and set up production schedules. They will provide support in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of manufacturing operations such as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling. May assist in time and cost estimates. May assign work to drafters and technicians, technical writers, engineering technicians, and machine shop personnel as required.\nResponsibility:\nSpecify new tools, equipment, and fixtures where required.\n\nRecognize and resolve tooling related difficulties with existing and new projects while working with the manufacturing support staff.\n\nInvestigate new manufacturing and tooling methods.\n\nHelp in defining plant layout and ergonomic requirements.\n\nParticipate in Advance Quality Planning.\n\nAssist in resolution of process scrap.\n\nChange implementation champion.\n\nNew product and process introductions.\n\nMaintain tool lists, set-up instructions, and work instructions.\n\nManage standard costing modules.\n\nAssist in ensuring the process is capable through capability studies.\n\nParticipate in corrective action to meet ongoing cost, quality and delivery, in FMEA development and improvements, and participate in CAT activities.\n\nPerform other duties/projects as assigned.\n\nAcademic/Educational Requirements:\nBachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or C.E.T. in Mechanical or Manufacturing discipline.\n\nPreference will be given to candidates registered or working towards becoming a Professional Engineer in Ontario.\n\nRequired Skills/Experience:\n3+ years of experience within a relevant role and industry.\n\nAbility to write comprehensive entries into technical logbooks which are then used as reference documents.\n\nAbility to evaluate the ability of current building systems to address increased demands from plant operations.\n\nReview scale drawings to ensure the proposed designs satisfy the clients' requirements and comply with manufacturing capabilities.\n\nInteract with technicians or technologists for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and developing plant maintenance schedules.\n\nActive knowledge of AutoCad, Excel, Word, Easytalk and MasterCam and understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning.
