The role designs, develops, tests and supports dashboards, reports and visualisations, working closely with BI developers, data engineers and Group IT teams to ensure that back-end data solutions support the required business outcomes.\nThe role is accountable for ensuring that visualisations are fit for purpose, aligned to agreed standards and supported throughout their lifecycle. It also contributes to the evolution of the analytics landscape by improving reporting processes, encouraging user adoption and identifying opportunities to increase the value of data and insight.\nKey Responsibilities\nBusiness Partnership & Demand Shaping\nBuild trusted relationships with business stakeholders and IT Business Partners to understand objectives, pain points, reporting needs and opportunities.\nTranslate business requirements into clear functional specifications, report definitions, user stories and acceptance criteria.\nChallenge and refine requests to ensure proposed BI solutions address the underlying business need and deliver measurable value.\nSupport the prioritisation and shaping of BI demand, providing effort, dependency, risk and delivery input.\nBI Analysis, Development & Visualisation\nSource and prepare data for analysis and develop reports, dashboards and front-end visualisations that meet agreed business requirements.\nApply appropriate data visualisation techniques to present information clearly, consistently and accessibly for technical and non-technical audiences.\nWork closely with back-end BI developers and data engineers to ensure data models, transformations and integrations support front-end deliverables.\nAutomate and operationalise reporting activities where appropriate to improve timeliness, consistency and efficiency.\nMaintain solution documentation, report definitions, business rules and the reporting catalogue.\nTesting, Quality and Data Integrity\nDefine and execute proportionate test plans, test cases and reconciliation checks for new and changed BI solutions.\nCoordinate business validation and user acceptance testing, ensuring defects and data discrepancies are understood and resolved.\nInvestigate anomalous data, reporting differences and root causes, recommending improvements to data, process or solution design.\nEnsure delivered solutions conform to agreed development, security, privacy, accessibility and documentation standards.\nService Excellence & Application Support\nProvide application support for front-end BI solutions and ensure incidents and requests are managed in line with agreed procedures and service levels.\nUse application management and monitoring tools to investigate issues, collect performance information and support problem resolution.\nIdentify recurring issues and work with relevant teams and suppliers to deliver sustainable corrective actions.\nCommunicate clearly with users throughout incident resolution and escalate issues outside the role’s accountability.\nProduct Lifecycle, Adoption & Continuous Improvement\nMonitor solution usage, adoption, performance and stakeholder feedback, using insight to recommend enhancements.\nSupport users through guidance, demonstrations, training materials and knowledge sharing.\nContribute to analytics roadmaps and the transition from legacy reporting to strategic platforms.\nExplore new visualisation techniques, platform capabilities and ways of working that improve insight and user experience.\nWhat experience you’ll bring\nDemonstrable experience in business intelligence analysis, reporting or dashboard development.\nExperience gathering and translating business requirements into functional and technical BI deliverables.\nPractical experience of data visualisation, report development, testing and application support.\nUnderstanding of relational data, reporting models, data quality and the end-to-end BI lifecycle.\nExperience working collaboratively with business stakeholders, developers, data engineers and third-party partners.\nStrong analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information to non-technical audiences.\nUnderstanding of ERP processes and business reporting within FMCG or consumer goods is desirable.\nExperience with a technology stack SAP Analytics Cloud and/or Power BI/SQL. SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Datasphere, Databricks or comparable technologies is desirable.\nHow you will be rewarded\nInternal Level 2.1\nFor the position of BI Developer the salary is £55,000 - £65,000.
