The Facilities department is responsible for keeping our 1 million square foot factory running efficiently while constantly improving processes and equipment performance. This internship will expose you to chocolate production processes, mechanical component analysis, building infrastructure, robotics, and so much more. Within this role you will be tasked with analyzing the failure of machine components, developing new prototypes, calculating the efficiency of systems, and performing data analysis. This role will combine your engineering and mathematical skills to help Lindt create the world’s best chocolate!\nWhat To Expect as a Lindtern:\nOur twelve-week Lindternship program offers hands-on experience allowing undergraduate and graduate students to gain practical skills and contribute to projects that directly impact our business. During the summer, interns will be paired with a mentor, attend professional career development workshops/sessions and attend networking events to meet additional team members.\nEssential Job Functions & Responsibilities:\nWeak Component Analysis\nUtilize mechanical engineering principles such as material composition, load and stress analysis, and fatigue failure analysis to determine failure mode of component(s) \nRedesign or propose a potential improvement and fabricate prototype \nInstall and monitor prototype performance in the system against a verifiable success criterion \n3D Modeling/design\nWorking knowledge of CAD/Solid works. \nAbility to read and interpret mechanic drawings \nPM process improvement\nWork hands on with technicians and planning team members to improve PM process procedures \nStrong process writing/development ability and attention to detain will be crucial \nIdentify and test longevity of common swap out parts to find maximum life cycles to lower PM costs. \nParts Priority Number \nGain knowledge of Lindt’s manufacturing processes to identify the most essential equipment in the factory \nAnalyze historical spare parts usage data \nCombine the equipment knowledge with the usage data to develop a parts priority number (PPN) \nQualifications & Requirements:\nExperience:\nPrior internship experience preferred but not required \nDemonstrated proficiency with a computer and with MS software \nSkills & Knowledge:\nKnowledge of engineering principles \nStrong mathematical skills \nEducation:\nBe a Junior or Senior enrolled in an accredited University Degree Program - Preferably with a focus on Mechanical Engineering, other STEM degrees may apply \nOther Requirements:\nOnsite role only \nTotal Rewards:\nCompensation Range: $20 an hour\nApplicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Starting pay is determined using a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience as well as market conditions.
