We support customers who keep schools, restaurants, and households supplied, working with many of the UK’s leading retailers and food producers.\nAbout the Role\nWe are currently recruiting for a Crane Controller / Automation Process Controller at our fully automated Peterborough depot.\nThis role is central to ensuring the smooth and accurate movement of stock within an automated warehouse environment.\nYou will be responsible for controlling automated systems and warehouse management systems (WMS), coordinating stock movements, and supporting yard and driver activity. The role is fast-paced and varied, involving regular interaction with drivers, warehouse colleagues, and customers, and requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and confident decision-making. No heavy lifting is involved.\nKey Responsibilities\nOperate and monitor automation and WMS systems to ensure timely and accurate stock movements.\nTake an active role in investigating stock queries, discrepancies, and system issues.\nMaintain stock administration, including data input, allocations, and documentation scanning.\nManage stock control using our WMS for customers.\nSupport inbound and outbound stock flow to meet warehouse and customer requirements.\nMonitor system performance and escalate issues where required.\nLiaise with engineering and operational teams to resolve automation or system faults.\nManage the booking diary and schedule collections and deliveries\nSign up PODs and liaise with Lineage drivers and external hauliers.\nControl yard activity, including coordination with shunters, drivers, and outside hauliers.\nIssue keys, pads, and prepare run sheets for drivers.\nHandle telephone and email queries, providing a high level of customer service.\nManage NCRs and communicate discrepancies to customers in a timely manner.\nProvide accurate shift handovers and support site KPIs.\nUndertake ad hoc administrative and operational tasks as required.\nWhat Are We Looking For?\nStrong organisational, planning, and prioritisation skills.\nExcellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.\nGood communication skills, both verbal and written.\nAbility to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nConfidence investigating system failures and stock issues.\nCustomer-focused approach with a professional manner.\nCompetent IT user, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.\nExperience using warehouse management systems (WMS), is desirable but not essential.\nPrevious experience in stock control, automation, logistics, or a warehouse environment is advantageous.\nWhat’s in It for You?\nA permanent opportunity with a direct employer; we will not employ you through an agency.\nOpportunity to develop a career within an industry leading global company.\nFree onsite parking.\nAccess to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), offering confidential counselling and professional advice to support emotional well-being.\nPreferential loan and savings options available through exclusive access to a credit union.\nReference: INDUK\nWhy Lineage?\nWe are a global company with more than 22,000 employees spanning 20 countries and more than 400 locations across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and South America.\nAt Lineage Logistics, we have a shared purpose; we are transforming the food supply chain to eliminate waste and help feed the world.
