The Dispatcher works closely with the Terminal Operations team to ensure all trips are coordinated, company resources are optimized, and customer needs are being fully met and/or exceeded. The Dispatcher works with Drivers to ensure 100% compliance with Transportation Safety Plan policies and procedures, while ensuring professional on-time service on pick-ups and deliveries.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\nSafety & Compliance\nPromotes a culture where Health & Safety is the #1 priority.\nOperates within the Code of Business Conduct, company policies and procedures, and all statutes and legislation governing the workplace.\nWorks with Drivers to ensure Driver hours are not exceeded.\nUnderstands and adheres to all Transportation Safety policies and guidelines.\nEnsures compliance with prescribed Health & Safety programs and Cold Chain Assurance programs, as directed by terminal management team and regional Health & Safety and Cold Chain Assurance leads. May participate in Joint Health & Safety meetings.\nCustomer Experience\nCollaborates effectively with all team members in Transportation and Warehousing to achieve daily objectives. \nProvides the highest levels of service to all customers with whom they interact, whether internal or external, with the goal of continuously improving the customer experience.\nWorks with the Supervisor, Terminal Operations and leadership team to implement Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) related to daily customer service objectives.\nIn collaboration with the Supervisor, Transportation Office, communicates with existing customers to understand and prioritize their needs, participating in calls and meetings as appropriate.\nResearches, develops and recommends solutions to meet customer requirements.\nImplements improved operational processes that enhance capabilities to meet/exceed service standards.\nEnsures adherence and accountability to standard operating procedures.\nOperational Excellence\nManages inbound shipment ETA’s to maximize efficiency and ensure customer needs are met.\nCollaborates with the operations team to determine equipment requirements and schedules.\nDevelops efficient routing patterns locally to meet required schedules.\nEnsures all documentation relating to the movement of orders or shipments in or out of the facility is completed accurately and on time.\nCommunicates with Drivers to ensure they are operating in the most safe and effective manner, and are compliant with transportation legislation and company policies and procedures.\nCoordinates team member and resources involved in the daily pick-up and delivery of freight, including Dispatchers, Drivers, Third Party Carriers and Owner Operators. \nEnsures appropriate Driver resource is sent to each call, based on current location, truck size, capacity, schedule, and whether shipment is fresh/frozen. Ensures the most efficient and effective resource is dispatched to meet customer service schedules.\nEnsures regular communication with Drivers to keep apprised of Driver locations across the network so they may assign next pickup according to proximity.\nEnsures the collection, audit, tracking and filing of internal paperwork from Drivers (PODs, fuel slips, and maintenance records).\nKeeps in communication with the dock and central line haul dispatch regarding shipments that will be arriving late or not according to schedule.\nProvides a daily exceptions report to Supervisor, Dispatch, showing all on time and late departures.\nRecommends continuous improvement efforts and identifies cost saving and growth initiatives.\nAnswers inbound phone calls relating to line haul delays, driver check in, hours of service & carrier check-ins. \nProvides vacation and sick coverage for senior dispatch functions.\nPerforms other duties as assigned in accordance with the company vision, mission, strategy and culture.\nKEY REQUIREMENTS\nMinimum 1 years’ experience working in an FTL & LTL transportation environment in a planning or dispatch role.\nExperience with Truckmate would be considered an asset.\nStrong familiarity with the city of Winnipeg would be considered an asset\nScheduling or customer service experience.\nExperience working with company drivers, owner operators and third party carriers.\nHigh school graduation or equivalent.\nExcellent customer service abilities with a natural desire to provide exceptional service and build strong relationships with Drivers.\nProven ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment to ensure accuracy, compliance and a team culture of excellence.\nProven analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to quickly understand and identify issues and propose solutions.\nProven ability to effectively prioritize work flow to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment. Able to adapt to shifting priorities.\nAnalytical; logical thinker with ability to think two steps ahead and successfully analyze different pieces of information and put them together like a puzzle.\nExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written.\nDedicated to continuous improvement and ability to identify opportunities to increase efficiency and enhance results. Ability to manage and adapt to change.\nApproachable, positive demeanor with a hands-on and team-oriented work style.\nKnowledge of the logistics, supply chain and/or transportation industry preferred.\nCommitment to health and safety in the workplace.\nTakes initiative, is proactive in their work, and results-oriented.\nMicrosoft Office skills with an emphasis on Word, Excel and Outlook.
