This role coordinates daily transportation activities, driver assignments and shipment delivery while working closely with drivers, customers, warehouse personnel and internal teams. The primary focus is to maintain service levels, ensure safety and compliance, improve operational efficiency, and provide consistent support across all four dispatch functions.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nDispatch & Transportation Operations\nCoordinate load planning, driver assignments, shipment tracking, pickups and deliveries across all dispatch functions.\nOptimize driver, truck and third-party carrier resources to meet customer schedules efficiently.\nProvide vacation, sick-day and workload coverage, adapting to changing operational priorities.\nMonitor shipment delays, missed appointments and service exceptions, escalating significant issues to the Transportation Manager.\nDriver Communication, Safety & Compliance\nMaintain regular communication with drivers, customers, warehouse personnel and internal teams to ensure timely service and effective issue resolution.\nSupport compliance with transportation legislation, company policies and the Transportation Safety Plan, including driver hours, vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules and required documentation.\nSupport driver onboarding, coaching and performance improvement to promote safe driving practices and consistent service standards.\nDocumentation, Systems & Reporting\nPrepare and verify bills of lading, proof of delivery (PODs), customs documentation and cross-border shipping paperwork.\nMaintain accurate shipment records, driver activities, trailer information and dispatch updates in TruckMate.\nTrack operational KPIs, report delays and exceptions, and assist with performance reporting and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.\nSupport administrative tasks, including data entry, outstanding paperwork, fuel documentation, carrier invoices and shipment follow-ups.\nTeam Collaboration & Continuous Improvement\nWork closely with Transportation and Warehouse teams to maintain clear handovers and consistent operating procedures.\nIdentify opportunities to reduce administrative backlogs, improve service levels, optimize resources and control costs.\nContribute to a safe, customer-focused and collaborative work environment.\nQUALIFICATIONS\n5 years of experience in transportation, dispatch or planning, preferably in a less-than-truckload (LTL) environment.\nExperience coordinating company drivers, owner-operators and third-party carriers is an asset.\nWorking knowledge of transportation systems, ideally TruckMate, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.\nPost-secondary education in Transportation, Logistics, Operations or a related field is preferred.\nStrong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills and a strong customer service mindset.\nAbility to work independently, adapt to changing operational needs and identify process improvements.\nStrong commitment to workplace health and safety, regulatory compliance and operational accuracy.\nThe compensation range for this job profile is $60,900 - 95,200.
