Senior Back-end Developer - Security Testing & Dependency Management

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Back-end Developer with strong experience in Docker and Kubernetes to join a team responsible for the security, reliability and lifecycle management of backend applications and their dependencies.

The role combines hands-on backend development with a strong focus on security testing, containerized environments and dependency management. You will work with development and technical teams to identify security risks, maintain secure application dependencies and ensure that backend services are built, tested and deployed according to established security and quality standards.

Your responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend applications running in Docker and Kubernetes environments.
• Support the identification and remediation of security vulnerabilities in backend applications and their dependencies.
• Participate in security testing and vulnerability assessment activities.
• Monitor and manage application dependencies, identifying outdated or vulnerable components and coordinating their remediation.
• Review and improve application and container configurations from a security and reliability perspective.
• Troubleshoot issues related to containerized backend applications and Kubernetes environments.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps and security teams to resolve technical and security-related issues.
• Support secure development and deployment practices across the application lifecycle.
• Contribute to technical discussions around application architecture, security and dependency management.
• Document technical solutions, security findings and remediation activities.
• Help improve processes and practices related to application security and dependency lifecycle management.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience in backend software development or a closely related technical role.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Docker.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
• Good understanding of containerized application environments.
• Experience troubleshooting backend applications running in Docker/Kubernetes.
• Understanding of software security principles and vulnerability management.
• Experience working with application dependencies and identifying potential security risks.
• Ability to analyse technical issues and drive them through to resolution.
• Good collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a senior-level role.

Nice to have

• Experience with security testing tools or vulnerability scanners.
• Knowledge of container security and Kubernetes security best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated security checks.
• Familiarity with dependency scanning and Software Composition Analysis (SCA).
• Experience working in Agile development teams.
• Experience with cloud-based environments.
