We are looking for experienced Senior DevOps / Platform Engineers to support a cloud migration programme involving Kubernetes-based applications and production-grade environments across Azure and AWS. The role is hands-on and strongly focused on infrastructure automation, Kubernetes operations, CI/CD, cloud networking, security, observability, and migration execution.
You will work on migrating workloads and platform components from Azure-based environments towards AWS/EKS, ensuring that applications, pipelines, infrastructure, storage, security, and monitoring are properly designed, automated, tested, and ready for production use.
Key responsibilities
- Support and execute migration of Kubernetes-based applications and platform services across cloud environments.
- Design, build, refactor, and maintain infrastructure using Terraform across Azure and AWS.
- Work with Kubernetes workloads: deployments, Helm/Kustomize, RBAC, service accounts, ingress, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Build and maintain CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
- Support cloud networking and connectivity topics across Azure, AWS, and on-premises environments.
- Implement and validate secure access patterns, secrets management, workload identity, and least-privilege permissions.
- Plan and support data/storage migration activities, including backup/restore, validation, cutover, and rollback scenarios.
- Migrate or rebuild monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards across cloud-native and Kubernetes environments.
- Automate migration tasks, validation checks, runbooks, and operational processes using scripting.
- Collaborate with application, platform, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth delivery.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or similar roles.
- Practical experience with Kubernetes-based application migrations and production cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Helm and/or Kustomize.
- Experience with container image management, Kubernetes RBAC, service accounts, ingress controllers, workload troubleshooting, and production cluster operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services used for Kubernetes workloads, including:
- EKS, IAM, IRSA, VPC networking, security groups, load balancers, Route 53
- CloudWatch, Secrets Manager / Parameter Store, S3, RDS, EFS
- image registries such as JFrog
- Solid Azure experience, especially around:
- AKS, Azure DevOps, Azure Container Registry
- Azure networking, identity, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics
- Expert-level Terraform experience, including reusable modules, remote state, environment separation, refactoring, and migration patterns.
- Expert-level experience with GitHub Actions.
- Strong understanding of cloud and Kubernetes networking: VNet/VPC, DNS, TLS, ingress/egress, firewalls, private connectivity, load balancing, service discovery, and connectivity testing.
- Strong security mindset, including least privilege, secrets management, workload identity, Kubernetes security practices, container image scanning, and audit/compliance support.
- Experience with observability and troubleshooting using tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and alerts.
- Scripting skills in Python and/or Bash for automation, validation, runbooks, and pipeline support.
Additional requirement for selected positions
For some roles within the team, experience with JupyterHub / JupyterLab is required. This includes hands-on experience deploying and operating JupyterHub at scale on Kubernetes, preferably on AWS EKS.
Relevant experience includes:
- Zero to JupyterHub Helm chart.
- Spawner and authenticator customisation, including OAuth2/OIDC.
- Persistent user storage configuration.
- Resource quotas and autoscaling for single-user notebook servers.
- Support for GPU or compute-intensive notebook workloads.
- Integration with cloud services such as S3, EFS, IAM/IRSA.
- Multi-tenant administration, user environment management, and observability of notebook workloads.
Nice to have
- Experience with AKS to EKS migration.
- Experience migrating Azure DevOps YAML pipelines to GitHub Actions.
- Experience with JupyterHub / JupyterLab.
- Experience with large-scale platform migrations involving applications, infrastructure, pipelines, data, storage, and observability.
