The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.\nThis role will be based in Mountain View, CA.\nThe Data Center & Core Network Engineering team is responsible for architecting, designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructures for data centers and DCI optical networks. We ensure seamless connectivity, security, and reliability within campus and across global data center networks. We develop tools and automate processes to support our hypergrowth.\nAs a Staff Network Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role as a technical leader and exemplar within our team. We seek an individual who implements and supports networking technology solutions aligned with business and technical goals, keeps up with cutting-edge networking research, fosters collaboration across teams, and adeptly balances competing priorities. In addition to leadership acumen, a successful Staff Network Engineer should demonstrate sufficient proficiency in both networking and automation engineering.\nResponsibilities:\nReview architectures, network designs, automated network provisioning and tools, and provide recommendations for continuous improvements in all aspects of the network, including network performance, capacity, reliability, and observability.\nDesign, deploy, and operate a large-scale network for data center infrastructure and backbone across multiple geographical regions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align implementation with business objectives.\nPerform network maintenance and upgrades.\nIdentify gaps and develop solutions to automate deployments and auto-remediate network faults.\nParticipate and resolve Network Security and Compliance issues.\nParticipate in on-call rotation, resolve network outages, conduct post-mortems and remediation plans.\nEvaluate new platforms to address scaling challenges and drive requirements with OEMs/ODMs to support our technology stack.\n Basic Qualifications:\nBA/BS Degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.\n5+ years of industry experience in network and data center engineering in hyperscalers environment.\n5+ years of experience with programming languages like Python, Go, or other scripting languages.\nExperience with network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, RDMA, network overlay technologies, and network-based Quality of Service (QoS).\nKnowledge in Kubernetes, host networking, host TCP tuning, and HPC networking.\nExperience in network congestion control solutions such as QoS, DCTCP/ECN, and eBPF.\nExperience with network management, configuration generation and provisioning systems and tools, e.g. Ansible, REST/gRPC, NETCONF, Jenkins, Puppet, YANG, OpenConfig, etc.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMaster’s Degree in a technical discipline\nExperience in evaluating and deploying new HW platforms and SWs to solve DC growth and operational challenges.\nExperience in designing and deploying network infrastructure for HPC workloads.\nExperience in hardware and software testing using IXIA or other testing platforms.\nExperience in building AI/ML network infrastructure, e.g. Infiniband and RoCEv2 networking.\nExperience in Optical Networking technologies, DWDM, ZR, optical transceivers, optical fiber interconnects. \nSuggested Skills:\nNetwork Protocols\nKubernetes\nNetwork Design\nNetwork Engineering\nYou will Benefit from our Culture\nWe strongly believe in the well-being of our employees and their families. The pay range for this role is $156,000 to $255,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
