While there will be plenty of on-the-job learning, an engineer with a strong simulation and test knowledge base, hard-won through real-world experience, will be much more likely to succeed in this role.\nPosition Summary\nThe Simulation & Test Automation Engineer develops simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test environments, implements system-integration and regression tests, and builds automated CI/CD pipelines for execution on local runners. This role enables reliable and repeatable verification of complex systems through the product development lifecycle.\nKey Responsibilities\n- Design and develop high-fidelity software simulations, models, stubs, and emulators.\n- Integrate hardware including compute, sensors, actuators, interfaces, and test equipment into HIL environments.\n- Troubleshoot communication and interoperability issues across CAN, SPI, TCP, Iridium, Cell, and WiFi interfaces.\n- Translate system requirements and interface definitions into traceable integration, regression, and acceptance test cases.\n- Design and maintain automated test frameworks, test harnesses, reusable test libraries, reporting pipelines, and diagnostics toolchains.\n- Collaborate with DevOps to design, create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including test orchestration, environment management, artifact handling, result publication, and pipeline reliability.\n- Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, firmware, production and quality teams to investigate complex failures and improve product quality.\nRequired Qualifications\n- Hands-on experience with HIL integration and test equipment.\n- Proficiency in a relevant programming language such as C++, Java, Python, or similar.\n- Experience with Git, GitLab CI/CD and local GitLab runners.\n- Experience designing and developing simulations and automated test and verification pipelines.\n- Understanding of systems engineering, interfaces, test traceability, and verification and validation practices.\n- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.\n- U.S. Person status required.\nDesired Qualifications\n- Experience with embedded interfaces such as CAN and SPI.\n- Experience designing and debugging networks, touching authentication, encryption, and VPN.\n- Experience with comm port debugging in Linux, including serial and ethernet ports.\nPay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.\nSummary pay range for exempt (IC 3): $127,200 - $174,900\nSummary pay range for exempt (IC 4): $161,600 - $222,200\nLiquid Robotics designs and manufactures Wave Gliders®, the first wave and solar powered autonomous ocean robots.
