This role is responsible for secure, reliable connectivity across offices, retail locations, warehouse facilities, AWS and Azure cloud environments, and remote users, including Cisco and Meraki switching and wireless infrastructure and Palo Alto firewalls and virtual private network (VPN) services. A key objective of the role is modernizing cloud connectivity by removing the company’s dependency on Cisco cloud services routers and replacing them with cloud-native technologies for Azure-to-AWS and cloud-to-site communication. Working independently and in partnership with Infrastructure, Security, DevOps, application teams, business stakeholders, and vendors, the engineer establishes standards, leads network projects, resolves complex incidents, and improves the performance, resilience, security, and scalability of the network.\n Serve as the network subject matter expert and technical owner for the architecture, configuration, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and lifecycle management of the hybrid network environment. \nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers. \nConfigure and support Cisco and Meraki switching, routing, wireless, and site connectivity across offices, retail locations, and warehouse facilities. \nConfigure, administer, and continuously improve Palo Alto firewalls, security policies, site-to-site VPNs, remote-access VPN services, and related network security capabilities. \nOwn the design and execution of the cloud connectivity roadmap, removing dependency on Cisco cloud services routers and implementing cloud-native networking (such as AWS Transit Gateway, Azure Virtual WAN and VPN gateways, and native private connectivity) for Azure-to-AWS and cloud-to-site communication. \nPartner with DevOps on cloud network standards, security controls, and infrastructure-as-code for cloud networking. \nLead the design and deployment of networks for new facilities and the upgrade of existing sites, including expansions and relocations, covering requirements gathering, design, equipment selection, implementation, testing, documentation, and transition to operations. \nMonitor network availability, performance, capacity, configurations, logs, and security events; establish actionable alerts, identify trends, and resolve issues before they materially affect business operations. \nTroubleshoot complex routing, switching, wireless, firewall, VPN, DNS, DHCP, latency, packet-loss, and cloud-connectivity issues, coordinating with carriers and vendors as required. \nKeep network devices current on security patches, software, and firmware; implement configuration management, backup, vulnerability remediation, and change-control practices for physical and virtual network devices. \nPartner with the information security team to implement defense-in-depth, segmentation, least-privilege access, zero-trust principles, intrusion prevention, and appropriate logging and threat-correlation controls. \nDevelop and maintain network architecture diagrams, configuration standards, operating procedures, asset records, support documentation, and disaster-recovery information. \nParticipate in incident response, problem management, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action planning for network and security events. \nAutomate repeatable network administration, validation, reporting, and monitoring activities using APIs and scripting where practical. \nManage technical relationships with telecommunications carriers, managed service providers, and network technology vendors, including escalation and service-performance reviews; partner with the Contracts team on circuit, service, and renewal decisions. \nParticipate in an on-call rotation for critical network services. \n Education/ Experience:\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience and appropriate certifications may count towards degree requirement.\n\nSeven or more years of progressively responsible network engineering experience, including substantial hands-on responsibility for enterprise physical-site and cloud networking environments. \nDemonstrated experience leading network implementations, migrations, upgrades, and complex production troubleshooting in a distributed organization. \nSkills and Ability:\nAdvanced hands-on experience with Cisco and Meraki switching, routing, wireless, dashboards, templates, and centralized management. \nAdvanced experience configuring and troubleshooting Palo Alto Networks firewalls, security and NAT policies, threat-prevention capabilities, site-to-site VPNs, and remote-access VPN services; Panorama and GlobalProtect experience strongly preferred. \nStrong knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6, VLANs, spanning tree, 802.1X, QoS, DNS, DHCP, NAT, IPsec, SSL/TLS, SNMP, OSPF, and BGP. \nExperience designing and operating resilient WAN, LAN, WLAN, internet-edge, and hybrid connectivity services across geographically distributed locations. \nExperience with AWS and Azure networking, including virtual networks, routing, security controls, private connectivity, transit architectures, VPN connectivity, and cloud-native monitoring. \nExperience with network monitoring, alerting, configuration backup, performance analysis, log management, and packet-analysis tools; ability to turn telemetry into actionable operational insight. \nWorking knowledge of network segmentation, zero-trust principles, intrusion detection and prevention, secure remote access, vulnerability remediation, and defense-in-depth practices. \nAbility to automate administrative and validation tasks using Python, PowerShell, APIs, infrastructure-as-code, or comparable tools. \nExperience working within formal incident, problem, change, configuration, and asset-management processes. \nWorking knowledge of PCI, SOX, and related control and evidence requirements in an enterprise environment. \nExperience with Akamai CDN and security services, SIEM platforms, and cloud security or observability tooling is a plus. \nCCNP, Palo Alto PCNSE, Meraki certification, or comparable industry certification preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered. \nConfident self-starter \nAbility to plan and manage complex networking projects, working collaboratively with both technologists, vendors, and business operations teams \nCan balance near term operational responsiveness with longer term project improvement projects \nExcellent verbal and written communication \nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills \nExperience in working with cross-functional teams \nAbility to mentor junior engineers \nWork Conditions/ Physical Demands:\nThis position is primarily performed in a home office or other approved remote work environment.
