Technical Architect - Adobe Commerce

Job Summary :
We are looking for an experienced Technical Architect with strong expertise in Adobe Commerce/Magento 2 and full-stack development to lead architecture, solution design and engineering delivery for enterprise eCommerce platforms.
The role involves collaborating with clients and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, leading development teams, and ensuring high-quality implementation.
Key Responsibilities :
- Engage with clients and business stakeholders to understand requirements and design scalable, secure and high-performance eCommerce solutions.
- Define and lead Adobe Commerce/Magento 2 architecture, customization and integration strategies.
- Lead full-stack development using PHP, MySQL, TypeScript and preferably React, Next.js and related technologies.
- Develop and review custom Magento modules, REST APIs, GraphQL extensions, integrations, batch jobs and asynchronous processes.
- Design and implement integrations with ERP, CRM, payment gateways, search platforms, CMS and other enterprise systems.
- Drive performance optimization across Magento, MySQL, caching, indexing and backend services.
- Work with composable commerce platforms such as commercetools, Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Shopify, along with search and CMS solutions.
- Apply event-driven and cloud-native architectural patterns using AWS, Azure or GCP services.
- Lead and mentor engineering teams, manage resource allocation, assign responsibilities and ensure delivery quality and timelines.
- Conduct architecture reviews, technical design assessments and code reviews to enforce engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with Product, UX, QA, DevOps and other cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues and drive effective resolutions.
- Support Agile/Scrum practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and DevOps initiatives.
- Ensure application security, scalability, maintainability and adherence to architectural standards.

Required Skills and Experience :
- 12+ years of overall experience in software engineering, technical architecture or eCommerce development, including at least 5 years of hands-on Adobe Commerce/Magento 2 experience.
- Strong knowledge of Magento 2 architecture, customization and development best practices.
- Proficiency in PHP, MySQL and TypeScript.
- Full-stack development experience, preferably with React, Next.js and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Strong experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, custom Magento modules and API extensions.
- In-depth understanding of Magento indexing, caching, performance optimization, cron jobs, batch processing and asynchronous workflows.
- Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
- Experience integrating eCommerce platforms with ERP, CRM, search, payment and other enterprise systems.
- Experience implementing multi-website, multi-store, multi-language and multi-currency commerce solutions.
- Knowledge of composable and headless commerce architectures and third-party platforms such as commercetools, Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Shopify.
- Understanding of cloud services across AWS, Azure or GCP, including event-driven architecture and cloud-native integrations.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring and managing technical teams, including delivery planning and quality assurance.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Agile/Scrum and automated testing.
- Strong client communication, technical solutioning, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
Good to Have :
- Adobe Commerce Professional or Expert certification.
- Strong hands-on experience with Next.js and headless commerce implementations.
- Experience integrating Constructor.io or similar search and product discovery platforms.
- Exposure to CMS solutions such as Contentful or Contentstack and search platforms such as Bloomreach.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud-based event-driven systems.
- Understanding of application and infrastructure security.
