This role is pivotal in establishing a scalable, secure, and maintainable software foundation while ensuring alignment with product strategy, business objectives, and quality requirements.\nThe Software Architect will guide architecture decisions across mobile, on-prem, cloud-based applications, and data management capabilities. Working closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers, QA Engineers, DevOps engineers, and external development partners, you will ensure successful delivery of modern and sustainable digital solutions in a regulated healthcare environment.\nGeneral Responsibilities:\nArchitecture Leadership\nDefine and maintain the overall software architecture for digital solutions within the Essenz ecosystem.\nEstablish architectural principles, standards, design patterns, and governance processes.\nDrive technology selection and long-term technical roadmap decisions.\nSolution Design & Integration\nDesign scalable solutions across mobile, on-prem and cloud.\nDefine system interfaces, APIs, data flows, and integration patterns across internal and external systems.\nSupport deployment architectures that scale from individual clinical environments to global deployments.\nDefine the interoperability architecture for exchanging device and clinical data with hospital systems (e.g. EMR/EHR, LIS)\nTechnical Leadership\nProvide architectural guidance and mentorship to software engineering teams.\nCollaborate with Product Owners and Business Analysts to translate product requirements into technical solutions.\nLead architecture reviews and ensure technical consistency across development teams.\nQuality, Compliance & Cybersecurity\nEnsure software architecture supports applicable regulatory, quality, and cybersecurity requirements.\nPartner with Verification, Quality, and Regulatory functions to support compliant software development practices.\nPromote secure-by-design principles, traceability, reliability, and maintainability.\nCreate and maintain audit-ready architecture documentation (e.g. ADRs, C4 diagrams, arc42 documentation)\nDevelopment Partner Collaboration\nWork closely with external development partners and suppliers.\nReview technical deliverables, architecture proposals, and implementation approaches.\nEnsure alignment on technical direction, quality expectations, and delivery objectives.\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nCollaborate with Product Management, Systems Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Engineering leadership.\nSupport strategic planning activities and represent software architecture in technical and management reviews.\nContribute to the establishment of software engineering best practices across the organization.\nSkills and Experience\n10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience in software architecture roles.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent, Master´s degree preferred\nProven track record designing complex software platforms and distributed systems.\nStrong understanding of cloud-native architectures, web and technologies, and software integration patterns.\nExperience designing hybrid on-prem/cloud systems deployed into customer-controlled networks\nExperience with API design, microservices, data management, and modern software frameworks.\nExperience with Agile/Scrum and modern software delivery practices.\nExperience working with external development partners and geographically distributed teams.\nStrong communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.\nExperience in regulated industries such as medical devices, healthcare, life sciences, or other highly regulated domains preferred.\nFamiliarity with cybersecurity principles and secure software architecture practices.\nKnowledge of software lifecycle processes and standards such as IEC 62304 is desirable.\nOccasional Travel required\nWelcome to impact.
