This role blends team assessment, practical coaching, interactive instruction, and sustainable adoption strategies to help organizations use Agile methods and Jira more effectively.\nThe Agile Coach / Trainer will assess current team practices, lead instructor-led and virtual workshops, and coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, delivery teams, and managers through changes in planning, backlog management, ceremonies, flow, and reporting. Working with instructional designers and analysts, the coach will tailor instruction and follow-up support to demonstrated readiness rather than assume a one-size-fits-all curriculum.\nThis is not a classroom-only position. Success requires observing actual team behavior, helping teams remove practical barriers, reinforcing skills after training, and building communities that can sustain improvement independently. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.\nResponsibilities\nConduct Agile maturity, Jira Cloud proficiency, and team-readiness interviews, workshops, and observations.\nDeliver engaging instructor-led and virtual training on Agile fundamentals for: Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Jira and Confluence Cloud users.\nCoach teams on backlogs, ceremonies, prioritization, flow, metrics, and standardized Jira work management.\nAdapt coaching to assessed team needs; provide office hours and post-training reinforcement.\nFacilitate Agile communities of practice and champions sessions; gather feedback and improve reusable guidance.\nPartner with instructional designers and analysts to align training paths with assessment results and adoption measures.\nRe-assess Agile maturity and Jira Cloud utilization through structured interviews, team observation, facilitated workshops, and evidence-based coaching plans.\nTailor role-based coaching for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, team leads, and portfolio stakeholders, with actionable follow-up goals and clear ownership.\nDemonstrate working Jira boards, epics, stories, sprint and Kanban configurations, dashboards, and reporting approaches during hands-on learning sessions.\nMeasure coaching effectiveness through behavior changes, self-assessments, training feedback, and changes in team practices rather than attendance alone.\nCreate reusable facilitation guides and coach-the-coach material that enable local champions to reinforce skills after formal instruction.\nQualifications\nRequired:\nBachelor's degree in education, organizational development, business administration, information systems, or a related field.\n5+ years of relevant Agile delivery, coaching, training, or transformation experience, including at least 3 years of Agile coaching or instruction.\nOne of the following or equivalent credentials: International Consortium for Agile (ICAgile) Certified Professional in Agile Coaching or Authorized Instructor Credential, Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Practice Consultant (SPC) or Release Train Engineer (RTE).\nHands-on Jira Cloud proficiency and practical mastery of Scrum and Agile team practices.\nStrong virtual facilitation, coaching, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust determination and satisfy applicable federal personnel vetting, security, privacy, accessibility, and data-handling requirements.\nAbility to adapt Agile instruction to adult learners with varied technical experience and to facilitate constructive conversations with skeptical / change resistant / change-fatigued teams.\nExperience defining practical measures of team maturity, coaching progress, and adoption with supporting evidence.\nDesired:\nPrior experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), or federal health programs is highly desirable.\nExperience establishing Agile communities of practice and scaled coaching models.\nJira Align, Jira Cloud, Confluence Cloud, or public-sector technology transformation experience.\nExperience measuring Agile maturity and training effectiveness.\nExperience connecting scaled portfolio practices with team-level execution and Jira/Jira Align reporting expectations.\nA master's degree in organizational development, adult learning, instructional technology, or industrial-organizational psychology is desirable.\nAdditional credentials such as ICAgile Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-ATF) or ICAgile Enterprise Agile Coaching are desirable.\nAtlassian Cloud certifications beneficial\nTarget Salary Range: $102,000 - $174,000\nDisclaimer:\nThe salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation.
