This role combines technical migration execution, scripting, API integration, automation engineering, and validation to move complex workloads to Atlassian Cloud with reliable data and minimal disruption.\nThe Atlassian Migration Engineer will evaluate source environments, use approved migration tooling, reconcile users and permissions, transform incompatible data and configurations, and verify results through repeatable testing. The engineer will also implement Jira automations and integrations linking GitHub repositories, work items, builds, and deployment status, collaborating closely with cloud architects, administrators, and security and identity teams.\nThis is not a copy-and-move-only role. Success requires diagnosing legacy configuration constraints, selecting safe remediation approaches, proving that critical links and histories remain usable, and creating clear cutover and recovery evidence. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.\nResponsibilities\nInventory legacy Jira/Confluence projects, spaces, workflows, identities, marketplace apps, and integrations to assess migration readiness.\nPlan and execute phased migrations with Jira Cloud Migration Assistant and other approved Atlassian migration tools.\nWrite and test migration scripts, bulk transformations, reconciliation checks, and post-cutover remediation procedures.\nDesign Jira automation, REST API interfaces, and Forge or ScriptRunner extensions where appropriate.\nConnect GitHub repositories to Jira, enabling issue linkage, smart commits, and build/deployment visibility using approved integrations and GitHub Actions.\nDocument test plans, validation evidence, fallback options, migration defects, and technical handover artifacts.\nResolve migration blockers with security, identity, architecture, and customer teams.\nDevelop migration runbooks, source-to-target mappings, data-quality checks, acceptance criteria, defect logs, and cutover or rollback checkpoints.\nTest migrations in nonproduction environments where available; compare record counts, histories, attachments, relationships, permissions, and workflows against approved baselines.\nUse approved APIs and scripts for bulk corrections, automation, link repair, integration health checks, and reconciliation of post-migration issues.\nImplement and verify GitHub-to-JCC issue links, smart commits where supported, and CI/CD build and deploy signals while protecting credentials and secrets.\nCoordinate technical releases with change authorities and document repeatable procedures, integration ownership, monitoring, and maintenance responsibilities.\nQualifications\nRequired:\nBachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, information systems, or a related technical field. Four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a Bachelor's\n5+ years in application integration, platform migration, automation engineering, or related technical delivery.\nDemonstrated experience with Jira Cloud Migration Assistant and Jira Data Center-to-Cloud transition.\nProficiency with Jira Automation, REST APIs, and scripting; familiarity with Forge or ScriptRunner.\nExperience integrating GitHub with Jira, including GitHub for Jira and GitHub Actions.\nAbility to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust determination and satisfy applicable federal personnel vetting, security, privacy, accessibility, and data-handling requirements.\nExperience designing validation and reconciliation checks for migrations involving large and inconsistent datasets and configuration schemes.\nWorking knowledge of authentication, rate limits, integration troubleshooting, and secure management of automation credentials.\nDesired:\nPrior experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), or federal health programs is highly desirable.\nConfluence migration and marketplace plugin remediation.\nSAML/OIDC, identity mapping, CI/CD, and technical validation automation.\nMigration delivery in regulated federal enterprise environments.\nExperience with phased enterprise cutovers, GitHub Actions workflows, and migration performance optimization.\nA master's degree in computer science, software engineering, systems engineering, or cybersecurity is desirable.\nAdditional certifications such as GitHub Actions, GitHub Administration, or Atlassian Jira Administration for Cloud (ACP-120) are desirable.\nTarget salary range is $130,000 - 175,000\nDisclaimer: The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation.
