Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.\nResponsibilities\nProviding direct support to the 4th Infantry Division, this Forward Deployed Engineer will:\nCollaborate closely with Soldiers to understand operational requirements and translate mission needs into technical solutions within the SHEPRD application.\nImplement rapid updates, enhancements, and fixes to ensure the application aligns with real-world mission objectives and user feedback.\nTest, deploy, and maintain new functionality and features, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes and systems.\nProvide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting directly to operational users, both on-site and remotely.\nConduct training and mentoring sessions to empower Soldiers and other users to maximize their use and understanding of the application.\nParticipate in agile development practices, including sprint planning and stand-up meetings, to ensure continuous improvement and alignment of software capabilities with user requirements.\nCollaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to streamline development workflows and leverage best practices for efficiency and scalability.\nStay informed about emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to address complex operational challenges.\nPrepare and present documentation, demonstrations, and reports to stakeholders to showcase progress and application performance.\nCONUS only travel occasionally to other 25th Infantry Division locations or associated mission sites to provide localized technical support as needed.\nQualifications\nMinimum Qualifications\nActive Secret clearance.\nExperience building modern web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript.\nExperience developing backend services using a server-side framework (e.g., Node.js or equivalent).\nExperience working with relational databases, including schema design and query optimization.\nExperience designing and integrating RESTful APIs to support frontend applications and external data sources.\nExperience deploying applications in containerized environments (e.g., Docker).\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows supporting iterative software delivery.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate user needs into technical solutions.\nStrong communication skills and comfort working directly with end users and stakeholders.\nDesired Skills\nExperience working directly with military personnel and/or federal agencies in operational environments.\nFamiliarity with Army software development processes, operational workflows, and mission systems.\nFull-stack development experience using React for frontend development and js / Express for backend services.\nExperience deploying service-based or microservices architectures in containerized environments (Kubernetes or EKS preferred).\nExperience with cloud or government-hosted environments; AWS GovCloud or Azure Government preferred.\nUnderstanding of Agile development practices (Scrum or Kanban) and participation in sprint ceremonies.\nExperience improving operational decision-making systems based on user feedback, prioritization logic, or performance needs.\nSecurity certifications such as Security+ or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.\nTarget salary range is $111426.84 - $192890.16\nDisclaimer: The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation.
