You will join a small, cross-functional engineering team responsible for supporting tenants, maintaining platform reliability, and continuously improving the platform's capabilities and user experience.\nYour primary focus will be supporting the teams that build, deploy, and operate applications on IronSled. You will take ownership of technical issues and service requests, troubleshoot problems across the platform, and work directly with tenants to identify and implement solutions. You will also collaborate with other platform engineers to resolve complex issues, improve system reliability, and identify opportunities to reduce recurring support needs.\nThis is a hands-on engineering position, not a traditional help desk role. You will work across Kubernetes environments, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, identity services, networking, and platform integrations. While tenant support will be your primary responsibility, you will also contribute to platform engineering initiatives, automation, infrastructure improvements, and the continued development of IronSled.\nThis position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. We are a small, high-visibility team building and operating a secure application-hosting platform for federal agencies. By investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI delivers commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready artificial intelligence capabilities to federal agencies at commercial speed.\nHeadquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI supports the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors, helping agencies navigate complexity, modernize critical capabilities, and strengthen mission outcomes.\nResponsibilities\nWhat You’ll Do\nServe as a primary technical resource for IronSled tenants, owning platform-related issues and service requests from initial investigation through resolution.\n\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems involving Kubernetes, application deployments, CI/CD pipelines, identity and access management, networking, AWS infrastructure, and platform integrations.\n\nWork directly with tenant development teams to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.\n\nCollaborate with other platform engineers on issues requiring broader infrastructure changes or specialized expertise while maintaining ownership of tenant communication and resolution.\n\nSupport tenant onboarding, environment provisioning, application deployments, access management, and ongoing platform operations.\n\nContribute to the design, maintenance, and improvement of platform infrastructure, services, and engineering workflows.\n\nIdentify recurring technical issues and develop automation, tooling, or platform improvements that reduce manual intervention and improve tenant self-service.\n\nCreate and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and operational procedures to improve support efficiency and knowledge sharing.\n\nParticipate in platform monitoring, incident response, maintenance, and reliability improvements.\n\nWork closely with the engineering team to identify and prioritize technical debt, operational improvements, and enhancements that improve the overall tenant experience.\n\nQualifications\nWhat We’re Looking For\n2-5+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, site reliability engineering, or a related technical discipline.\n\nHands-on experience working with Linux, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.\n\nExperience supporting and troubleshooting applications running in containerized or cloud-native environments.\n\nWorking knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development workflows, and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Helm, or similar technologies.\n\nStrong troubleshooting skills, including the ability to analyze logs, investigate infrastructure and application issues, and identify root causes across multiple systems.\n\nUnderstanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, load balancing, ingress, connectivity, and common application networking issues.\n\nExperience working directly with developers or technical users to investigate issues and implement solutions.\n\nAbility to independently manage technical issues, prioritize competing requests, and drive problems through resolution.\n\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues, coordinate across teams, and provide clear updates to stakeholders.\n\nA collaborative mindset, strong sense of ownership, and interest in continuously improving platform reliability, automation, and the developer experience.\n\nU.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.\n\nTarget salary range is $92075.4 - $158138.39\nDisclaimer: The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation.
