This role focuses on designing and delivering resilient, maintainable microservices that power customer-facing and internal applications.\nYou will work closely with Product, QA, and Operations to ship well-tested, production-ready systems that scale. The successful candidate will combine strong engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience using modern development tools, including AI-assisted workflows, to increase throughput while maintaining high quality and reliability.\nResponsibilities\nBackend Engineering & Microservices\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful microservices using Java and Spring Boot, or comparable enterprise frameworks.\n\nWrite clean, maintainable, and well-documented code with a strong emphasis on Test Driven Development (TDD).\n\nDesign and implement RESTful APIs and microservice-based architectures.\n\nWork with Product Managers and Designers to translate requirements into pragmatic technical solutions.\n\nDeliver production-ready software on schedule while maintaining quality and reliability.\n\nCI/CD, Cloud & Infrastructure\nBuild, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools.\n\nAutomate software build, test, and deployment processes.\n\nContainerize services using Docker.\n\nDeploy and operate services using Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.\n\nSupport observability, autoscaling, and reliability across production services.\n\nTesting, Security & Reliability\nCollaborate with QA to maintain comprehensive unit, integration, and contract testing coverage.\n\nImplement security best practices across services, including authentication, authorization, and secret management.\n\nTroubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.\n\nDrive continuous improvements in system performance, reliability, and operability.\n\nWhat You'll Bring\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or 4+ years of equivalent professional software engineering experience.\n\nProven experience building production microservices using Java, Spring Boot, or similar enterprise frameworks.\n\nHands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservice-based architectures.\n\nExperience with ORM tools for data modeling and database interactions, including JPA, Hibernate, or similar technologies.\n\nStrong proficiency with PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases.\n\nExperience with relational database schema design, indexing, query optimization, and migrations.\n\nPractical experience containerizing applications using Docker.\n\nExperience deploying applications to Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, or similar environments.\n\nFamiliarity with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions and automated testing practices.\n\nDemonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar tools to accelerate high-quality software delivery.\n\nExcellent communication and collaboration skills.\n\nStrong ownership mentality focused on quality, performance, and reliability.\n\nCoachable, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.\n\nA High-Velocity Builder who leverages AI tools and modern workflows to amplify engineering output without sacrificing correctness.\n\nAn Ownership-Minded Engineer who cares deeply about code quality, system performance, and long-term maintainability.\n\nA Collaborative Thinker who translates product needs into scalable technical designs and communicates trade-offs clearly.\n\nBenefits\nCompetitive compensation.\n\nHealth and wellness coverage.\n\nGenerous paid time off.\n\n401(k) with a 5% company match.\n\nMonthly lifestyle stipends.\n\nEmployee recognition programs.\n\nReferral bonuses.\n\nWho We Are\nLoadUp is on a mission to make removal and disposal simple, honest, and stress-free.
