Lochmueller Group has a great opportunity for an experienced civil engineering and project manager to join our Transportation team as a Rail Project Manager. This position will be responsible for leading and delivering rail and rail-adjacent infrastructure projects, including work for public agencies, Class I railroads, short lines, and industrial rail clients. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead a variety of rail-related projects while working in a collaborative, people-centric, and values-driven firm. This position can be based out of any of the following locations: Dallas-Fort Worth, TX; Overland Park, KS; Omaha, NE; or Atlanta, GA.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:
- Serving as a Project Manager for rail-focused projects, providing leadership from project initiation through delivery.
- Managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful outcomes.
- Coordinating and communicating with clients to understand project goals, requirements, and expectations.
- Leading project teams and delegating work to project staff.
- Providing technical oversight and guidance related to rail design, analysis, and construction considerations.
- Taking a lead role in project planning, design, and implementation.
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting the professional development of staff.
- Preparing and reviewing project scopes, fee proposals, schedules, and work plans.
- Reviewing complete project documents, ensuring quality and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Serving as a technical resource and advisor for rail-related initiatives.
Qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in rail engineering, rail infrastructure, or transportation-related project management.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, but not required.
- Experience managing complex projects for rail owners, public agencies, or industrial clients.
- Experience managing projects with CSX, Norfolk Southern, and/or Union Pacific is highly desired.
- Strong understanding of rail design principles, construction practices, and applicable regulations (e.g., FRA, AREMA, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, manage multiple projects, and drive projects to successful completion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of accountability, professionalism, and commitment to quality.
