Our teams solve complex challenges while delivering advanced helicopter solutions for customers around the world.\nTHE WORK\nThe Airframe Design Engineering organization is seeking a motivated Airframe Design Engineer to support metallic and composite structure design. You will develop basic data, preliminary layouts, and detailed designs for new and revised parts, assemblies, and systems supporting helicopter fuselage primary and secondary structures. Working with multidisciplinary teams across Sikorsky Engineering and Technology, you will develop and present design proposals, create engineering layouts and drawings, and provide support throughout the product lifecycle. Designs will be developed using CATIA V5 and/or 3Dx/V6, with CATIA CPD used for composite design. Occasional travel may be required for supplier support, customer meetings, aircraft build activities, and testing.\nKey responsibilities include:\nDeveloping 2D airframe layouts and cross-sectional designs\nCreating 3D solid models and surface designs for structural components\nApplying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)\nDeveloping engineering drawings and part specifications\nDesigning composite laminates and manufacturing requirements\nDeveloping bonded assembly manufacturing requirements\nCollaborating across engineering disciplines to meet requirements and milestones\nU.S. citizenship is required as most programs and projects are ITAR restricted.\nWHO WE ARE\nSikorsky, a Lockheed Martin Company, is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and service of advanced helicopters for commercial, industrial, and military applications. You’ll work with talented engineers, use industry-leading design tools, tackle complex technical challenges, and gain opportunities to grow your career while contributing to products that make a difference.\nBasic Qualifications\n* Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline from an accredited college.\n* 9+ years of professional experience in Aerospace or related Mechanical Engineering Design discipline.\n* 5+ years of Computer Aided Design experience with Catia V5/V6(3DX) for developing mechanical design models.\n* Extensive technical expertise in structural design principles, material science and load analysis.\n* Experience using technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques for solutioning complex problems.\nDesired Skills\n* 3+ years’ experience in design of composite airframe structure with Catia V5 and 3DX workbenches.\n* Familiarity with model based system engineering for requirements flow down.\n* Expertise with the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for manufacturing fit and function.\n* Willingness and ability to technically mentor early career talent\nPay Information\nFull-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00\nAt Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
