The selected candidate will be involved in developing basic data, preliminary design layouts and detail design for new and revised parts, assemblies and systems that make up helicopter fuselage primary and secondary structures. This involves working as part of an multi-disciplinary team. Designs major components, or major portions of a functional system, or technically advanced protoype, promotional or specific products. Develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, structures, and products. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers. Selected candidate will participate in development and presentation of design proposals, detail design and support through the product lifecycle. Layouts and drawings will be prepared using CATIA 3Dx/V6. Composite design will utilize the CATIA CPD tool. Occasional travel may be required to support suppliers, customer meetings and reviews, as well as aircraft build support and test.\nBasic Qualifications\nBS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent degree, with 7 years of professional experience; or 5 years of professional experience with a related Masters degree.\nDesired Skills\n10 years of related experience.\nExperience in design of rotorcraft airframe structures and design of commerical aircraft completions options.\nProficiency in CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent CAD system is required.\nExperience in Cameo for requirements development and system modeling.\nProficient in design of composite airframe structure and use of composite ply development tools such as CPD.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office suite.\nProficient in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.\nTechnical drawing/drafting skills.\nExperience in model based engineering.\nPay Information\nGeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States.
