Standard Job Description

Introduction

We are looking for a creative Electronics Engineer to join an exciting and dynamic team in designing, developing, fabricating, testing, and troubleshooting Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) used to integrate and test the Orion spacecraft for NASA’s Artemis missions.

Location: This position does not support teleworking. You will need to live near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in Littleton Colorado and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time.

What does this role look like?

The focus for this role is to work as an engineer responsible for the design, drawings, documentation, and support of ground electronic test systems, primarily racks of equipment designed to test the Orion spacecraft as it is manufactured at Kennedy Space Center. The EGSE team is responsible for the design of a wide variety of test equipment, including low voltage AC/DC power, batteries, analog and digital signals, telemetry systems, RF electronics, audio & video, computer systems, vehicle emulators, cabling, and networking equipment that is used to interface with, test, and monitor spacecraft vehicles and other flight hardware.

Key activities you will accomplish in this role:

  • Create and update engineering drawings and documentation for test equipment racks, chassis, cables and other assemblies
  • Support manufacturing during procurement, build and modification of EGSE equipment
  • Perform testing of ground support equipment for a variety of electronic component assemblies
  • Support EGSE during usage testing the Orion spacecraft, assisting users and troubleshooting anomalies
  • Research, design, develop, and test a variety of electronic equipment and systems

  • Experience with design, manufacturing, test, or support of purpose-built, integrated electronic systems or Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE)
  • 1+ years of professional experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
  • Experience in electronics design and/or test of electrical hardware

Desired Skills

  • Experience designing or supporting Electrical Ground Support Equipment
  • Test equipment experience including Digital Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and Voltage Probes
  • Production of electrical engineering drawings using Zuken E3
  • Manufacturing and final assembly of rack level electrical equipment
  • Electrical circuit design and analysis
  • Failure analysis
  • Familiarity with electrical design IEEE standards
  • Windchill (EPDM)
  • Electrical drawing checking experience
  • Hardware component selection
  • Development of electrical design documentation to include operations and maintenance of hardware equipment
  • Mechanical drawing checking experience
  • Linux experience
  • NI Labview operations
  • Experience or coursework in analog or digital, RF, telemetry, networking, power, or cabling design
  • Strong Self-Motivation
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software suite
  • A willingness for occasional travel
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
