You will solve technical and organizational challenges, influence product design for manufacturability, and support the transition of new or revised designs into production. This role directly impacts the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of production while contributing to Lockheed Martin’s mission in space innovation and national security.\nKey Duties / Responsibilities\nDevelop and implement efficient manufacturing processes, layouts, and procedures for assemblies, equipment installation, machining, painting, and material handling.\nInterpret drawings and model-based designs, translating them into actionable manufacturing steps using MES and CAD tools.\nConduct manufacturing readiness assessments.\nCreate specifications and procedures for tools, fixtures, and manufacturing aides, adapting equipment for production conditions.\nEnsure new designs are producible, cost-effective, and meet design-for-excellence goals.\nIdentify production risks and drive cost reduction initiatives.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical and organizational challenges.\nLead team members in implementing engineering changes, process improvements, and team initiatives.\nProvide on-floor production support, troubleshoot issues to root causes, and implement solutions.\nIntroduce and optimize advanced manufacturing technologies and automation.\nCommunicate directly with government customers and provide design producibility input.\nSupport suppliers and internal teams in manufacturing processes.\nDevelop inspection tools, incorporate quality points into Manufacturing Work Instructions, and ensure processes meet regulatory and customer requirements.\nMonitor equipment performance to optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).\nApply statistical process control and data analytics to improve processes.\nWork Environment\nCollaborative and fast-paced team environment.\nCross-functional interaction with engineering, quality, and production teams.\nHands-on involvement in the production floor and direct problem-solving.\nRequires flexibility to engage across multiple sites and support both new and ongoing production initiatives.\nProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice\nPerforms in a collaborative environment to develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, fabrication, and material handling. Drives adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement. Creates and analyzes 3D based model data environment to optimize manufacturing process and digital work instructions. Leverages understanding of materials and automatic processes to define operations procedures and build sequences to drive operational excellence. Evaluates performance (including IoT devices, etc.) of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure operational excellence. Leverages factory data to develop statistical process control approaches and integrates reporting and data analytics solutions for continuous improvement. Provides input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.\nBasic Qualifications\nExperienced Manufacturing Engineer with knowledge of industry standards and best practices of manufacturing processes, procedures, process improvement, and strategic planning.\nProfessional experience with product manufacturability with ability to drive internal initiatives such as process improvements, lean, and manufacturing technology enhancements.\nStrong communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.\nExperience with design and fabrication for tooling, fixtures and manufacturing aides.\nProficient working in 3D modelling software (e.g. CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, Nx, etc), Product Lifecycle Manager (PLM) programs (e.g. 3DX, Teamcenter, PDM, etc.), and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) programs (e.g. Apriso, iBASEt, SAP, etc.).\nDesired Skills\nAbility to mentor and teach individuals or small groups.\nExcellent Team facilitation skills and effective use of Lean Six-Sigma tools.\nExperience in representing Operations teams for a wide range of difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.\nLean Six-Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.\nKnowledge of Digital Transformation and Automation Processes in a Manufacturing Assembly Environment.\nUnderstanding and wide application of Manufacturing Processes (Assembly, Machining, Riveting, Painting, etc.).\nFirst Unit Flow planning & execution.\nManufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) knowledge/experience.\nExperience with NC programming using MasterCAM or similar software.\nKnowledge of how to set up and implement new machining centers in production.\nExperience using CREO, DFMPro, SAP, and Apriso.\nExperience transitioning aerospace products from development into production.\nPay Information\nFull-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00\nAt Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
