You will solve technical and organizational challenges, influence product design for manufacturability, and support the transition of new or revised designs into production. This role directly impacts the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality of production while contributing to Lockheed Martin’s mission in space innovation and national security.\n________________________________________\nKey Duties / Responsibilities\nDevelop and implement efficient manufacturing processes, layouts, and procedures for assemblies, equipment installation, machining, painting, and material handling.\nInterpret drawings and model-based designs, translating them into actionable manufacturing steps using MES and CAD tools.\nConduct manufacturing readiness assessments.\nCreate specifications and procedures for tools, fixtures, and manufacturing aides, adapting equipment for production conditions.\nEnsure new designs are producible, cost-effective, and meet design-for-excellence goals.\nIdentify production risks and drive cost reduction initiatives.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to solve technical and organizational challenges.\nLead team members in implementing engineering changes, process improvements, and team initiatives.\nProvide on-floor production support, troubleshoot issues to root causes, and implement solutions.\nIntroduce and optimize advanced manufacturing technologies and automation.\nCommunicate directly with government customers and provide design producibility input.\nSupport suppliers and internal teams in manufacturing processes.\nDevelop inspection tools, incorporate quality points into Manufacturing Work Instructions, and ensure processes meet regulatory and customer requirements.\nMonitor equipment performance to optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).\nApply statistical process control and data analytics to improve processes.\nWork Environment\nCollaborative and fast-paced team environment.\nCross-functional interaction with engineering, quality, and production teams.\nHands-on involvement in the production floor and direct problem-solving.\nRequires flexibility to engage across multiple sites and support both new and ongoing production initiatives.\nProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice\nPerforms in a collaborative environment to develop and implement manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, fabrication, and material handling. Drives adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement. Creates and analyzes 3D based model data environment to optimize manufacturing process and digital work instructions. Leverages understanding of materials and automatic processes to define operations procedures and build sequences to drive operational excellence. Evaluates performance (including IoT devices, etc.) of equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure operational excellence. Leverages factory data to develop statistical process control approaches and integrates reporting and data analytics solutions for continuous improvement. Provides input to product design regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.\nBasic Qualifications\nCandidates must meet all of the following:\nProfessional experience as a Manufacturing Engineer with knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, process improvement, and strategic planning.\nProven ability to improve product manufacturability and lead initiatives such as process improvements, lean practices, or manufacturing technology enhancements.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.\nExperience designing and fabricating tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aides.\nProficiency with 3D modeling software (e.g., CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, NX), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (e.g., 3DX, Teamcenter, PDM), and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) (e.g., Apriso, iBASEt, SAP).\n• US Citizen\nDesired Skills\nThe following skills strengthen a candidate’s profile but are not required:\nActing as a technical authority for a work center and resolving complex technical issues.\nDeveloping and delivering training for a small team of engineers.\nCollaborating across multiple sites to standardize processes and share best practices.\nTeam facilitation skills and effective use of Lean Six Sigma tools; Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.\nExperience with digital transformation and automation in manufacturing assembly environments.\nBroad knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, riveting, and painting.\nFirst Unit Flow planning and execution experience.\nUnderstanding and application of Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL).\nExperience with NC programming (e.g., MasterCAM) and setting up machining centers for production.\nFamiliarity with CREO, DFMPro, SAP, and Apriso.\nExperience transitioning aerospace products from development into production.\nPay Information\nFull-Time Salary Range: $104900.00 - $194700.00\nAt Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
