In this role, you will develop test plans, perform laboratory testing, evaluate data, and report test results. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of materials, test methods, and a wide range of equipment, from handheld fixtures to highly specialized test instruments. Must be a US Citizen.\nAs a Materials Lab Engineer Associate you’ll work on a broad range of projects in a laboratory environment that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with designers, test and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of environments.\nIn this role you will:\nCoordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement\nInterface with customers in the development of test plans, performance of laboratory testing and evaluation of data\nPrepare samples and measure physical, performance, and processing properties of representative materials and parts using standard and specialized equipment and instrumentation\nPerform laboratory analyses on test samples/parts using a wide range of equipment from handheld fixtures to highly specialized test instruments.\nPrepare laboratory reports\nWe're looking for:\nA self-starter who develops solutions to technical issues\nA motivated individual who's able to work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues\nSomeone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines\nSomeone comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums\nThe ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels\nEvaluates technical and economic factors, recommending engineering and manufacturing actions for attainment of design objectives of process or product by applying knowledge of material science and related technologies. Reviews plans for new products and factors, such as strength, weight, and cost to submit material selection recommendations ensuring attainment of design objectives. Plans and implements laboratory operations to develop material and fabrication procedures for new materials to fulfill product cost and performance standards. Confers with producers of materials, such as metals, ceramics, and polymers, during investigation and evaluation of materials suitable for specific product applications.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelors Degree Materials Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field of study\nExperience or coursework in a laboratory environment\nCoursework/knowledge of EEE devices, metallic alloys and/or metallurgical concepts\nExperience in the review of laboratory test results, evaluation of data and completion of related documentation and the final lab report\nGood writing, communication and interpersonal skills\nDesired Skills\nFamiliarity with ASTM, AMS, or MIL specifications related to metals and electrical testing of materials\nFamiliarity with standards related to testing of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical Parts\nPay Information\nFull-Time Salary Range: $72800.00 - $135200.00\nAt Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
