Mechanical Design Engineer - Level 2

Standard Job Description

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Mechanical Engineering college new hire.

The successful candidate must demonstrate highly innovative approaches to resolve production and design issues.

This candidate will be responsible for the following actions: assisting production and development teams, resolving technical challenges, incorporating engineering changes, updating drawings / assembly parts lists, and developing new designs and tools.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Developing and generating CREO layouts and detailed drawings for ICDs, components, sub-assemblies, assemblies, and integration test articles* Building BOMs, creating parts, assemblies, and design documentation within Windchill PLM* Interacting with the IPT team, suppliers, GSC, electronic packaging, optics, and structural/thermal/material analysts to ensure design excellence* Contributing to drawing releases, responding to CRs, generating CNs, and supporting change boards and design reviews* Performing design trade studies to evaluate cost, weight, performance, and structural/thermal benefits.

Basic Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar degree) and have between (0-2) years of post-grad relevant work experience OR must be pursuing a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in CAD design tools, such as PTC Creo, 3DX/CATIA, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, etc.
• Demonstrated successful group collaboration and/ or individual project work, ideally in a mechanics or design area.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, work with system integration issues, design challenges, etc. demonstrated through hands-on experience.

Desired Skills

Hands-on experience with machining, rapid prototyping, or lab equipment (CNC, 3-D printers, test rigs)

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Including experience with sketching, technical drawing standards, or similar hands-on hardware support.

Experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD).

Experience with aerospace hardware such as structures, optical or radio frequency (RF) sensors, energetics, propulsion, or flight control systems.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $70500.00 - $130900.00

PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
