Shapes and installs proper cutting tools select proper tool offsets to meet quality standards and make other necessary setup adjustments\nSelects and loads proper CNC program in machine control to insure proper operation of the machine\nInspects set up parts prior to submission to inspection for approval to the fullest and most practical extent possible\nAssists in providing feedback on prescribed processes, fixturing, and tooling to Manufacturing Engineers to ensure that off-line engineering is complete and optimize efficiency before onlineoperations are performed\n\nAnalyzes machining results and performance targets with budgeted times and communicates shift targets for jobs to be run in production\nInvestigates “out of specification” problems in machining processes and work with ME’s and programmers to resolve such issues\nProvides technical support to Manufacturing personnel when necessary\nSets up CNC machines per blueprints or customer requirements\nVerifies gages and inspection equipment required are correct and appropriate for the task\nVerifies NC code during execution of setup\nPre-sets and installs proper cutting tools select proper speeds, feeds, and depth of cut where applicable to maintain the proper quantity and quality standards\nEdits CNC programs\nResponsible for set up and operation of one or more computer numerical controlled machining centers for both horizontal and vertical machines. Performs such operations as drilling, milling, boring, & tapping, etc. on any and all types of work within the scope of the machine\nAdheres to safety guidelines and the correct procedures for performing tasks to prevent personal injury or damage to product and/or equipment\nBasic Qualifications\n Understands the cutting properties of both ferrous and non-ferrous metals\n 5 years, or equivalent experience/combined education, with additional specialized training in\nspecific aspects of job functions and with demonstrated ability to meet production time\nstandards with minimal defects\n Sets up CNC machines per blueprints or customer requirements for mid to high complexity\nparts\n Knowledge of basic shop math (metric conversion and arithmetic)\n Experience as CNC operator in multiple machine cellular manufacturing operation\n Must be able to support a flexible work schedule supporting overtime, off-Fridays, weekends,\nand/or alternate shifts to support product schedules as required\n Experience working successfully in a team environment\n Able to work safely with cleaning chemicals and solvents\n Good oral and written communication skills\n Proficient in use of Measuring Equipment and able to verify conformance of machined work\npiece to specifications\n Proficient in reading and understanding complex mechanical blueprints\n Experience in selection and installation of proper cutting tools, and zeroing the machine to\ncontrol. Experience in shaping and installing proper cutting tools and selecting proper tool\noffsets to meet quality standards and make other necessary setup adjustments\n Must know M & G code to be able to edit & trouble shoot CNC program at machine\n Must know M & G code to be able to program a machine\n Proficient at GD&T\n Experience working/machining steel, aluminum and stainless steel with knowledge of\nmachining speeds and feeds required\nDesired Skills\n Experience in the development of, or redesign of, tooling and fixtures to improve quality or\nreduce costs\n Excellent knowledge of tooling and cutting condition calculations; know proper use and\nselection of different inserts, cutting tools and cutting tool geometries\n Excellent knowledge and application of GD&T\n Experience programming with GibbsCAM\n Experience with Solid Modeling\n Ability to perform complex calculations related to machining\n Knowledge of such tools as SAP, Command Media, Apriso, PAL, dPLM, Apriso, Microsoft\nOffice\n Demonstrated experience in mentoring/teaching of junior machinists\nPay Information\nPay rate for this position is $30.65 - $38.24 per hour.\nAt Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
