Our team is responsible for driving process improvement, increasing value delivery, and supporting strategic initiatives. What You Will Be Doing As the Operations Excellence Engineer you will be responsible for applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to solve complex, cross-functional problems and to deploy to any business area to enhance processes. Performs activities involving the producibility and quality of the product, and the processes that directly pertain, encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: failure analysis, industrial, manufacturing, manufacturing equipment, process, product, quality assurance, reliability, supplier quality, Lean Six Sigma, test, and tool.\nYour responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:\nEmbed within functional teams to assess, prioritize, and execute improvement opportunities.\nDeploy to suppliers and sites to eliminate waste and drive sustainable solutions.\nApply Lean/Six Sigma tools such as 6S, Standard Work, Visual Management, FMEA, and Control Charts to identify root causes.\nDefine KPIs, track metrics, and deliver quantified results including cost savings and cycle-time reductions.\nPrepare executive briefings and dashboards that translate technical findings into strategic business language.\nBasic Qualifications\nEducation:\n- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline. Advanced degree preferred\nExperience:\n- 5+ years of progressive experience in process improvement, operations engineering, or consulting roles within a large, complex organization (defense,aerospace, manufacturing, or similar)\nLean/Six Sigma:\n- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (or higher) OR ability to apply Lean Six Sigma Black Belt skills and techniques with demonstrable project leadership and documented results (e.g., $MM savings, % reduction in lead time)\nConsulting Acumen:\n- Proven track record of acting as a Sr. Advisor-designing problem-solving approaches, facilitating workshops, and delivering actionable recommendations to senior executives\nLeadership:\n- Ability to influence without direct authority; strong stakeholder management across diverse functional groups\nClearance:\n- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance, therefore must be a US Citizen\nTravel:\n- Willingness to travel 80-100%\nDesired Skills\nFacilitation:\n- Command-and-control of meeting rooms; adept at keeping teams focused, managing conflict, and driving consensus\nAnalytical Rigor:\n- Strong quantitative skills; proficiency with statistical software (Minitab, JMP) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).\nCommunication Excellence:\n- Ability to craft clear, concise narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences; polished written and verbal presentation skills\nStrategic Thinking:\n- Understands how operational improvements tie to broader business objectives and defense acquisition cycles\nAdaptability:\n- Comfortable navigating ambiguous environments and shifting priorities; quick learner of new business domains\nCollaboration:\n- Team-oriented mindset; builds strong relationships across engineering, program management, finance, and senior leadership\nPay Information\nGeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States.
