Standard Job Description You will be the Opto-Mechanical Engineer for the Hardware Engineering team at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC). Our team delivers precision engagement aerospace and defense systems, designing, building and fielding the electrical hardware that powers missiles, sensors and other mission critical subsystems for the United States and allied militaries. What You Will Be Doing As the Opto-Mechanical Engineer you will drive the full life-cycle of optical hardware, from research and concept through detailed design, supplier documentation, fabrication, and test. You’ll partner with optical designers, mechanical engineers, manufacturers, and test teams to ensure every component stays aligned, functional, and compliant with stringent performance and environmental specifications. Your responsibilities will include: Researching, planning, and defining optical element requirements (lenses, filters, beamsplitters, diffractive optics, etc.). Designing mechanical structures, assemblies, mechanisms, and fixtures that securely hold and accurately align optical components within system tolerance budgets. Selecting materials based on optical alignment tolerances
