In this role, the successful candidate will guide project execution while supporting the professional growth and technical development of Junior and Intermediate Software Engineers. The Senior Software Engineer will lead agile software development teams, translating business goals and objectives into actionable technical strategies and driving successful project delivery. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication, leadership, and time management skills, along with extensive experience in agile development practices. As both a technical lead and individual contributor, they will actively participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from planning and design through implementation, testing, and delivery.\nThe successful candidate will support Lockheed Martin's existing in-service support contracts, contributing to the development of first-of-its-kind mobile-enabled technology designed to enhance the operational effectiveness of our submarine fleet. In this role, the Senior Software Engineer will plan, coordinate, and execute software development activities, including the design, development, documentation, testing, debugging, and maintenance of software solutions. They will apply established standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development lifecycle while ensuring alignment with program objectives and regularly communicating progress to stakeholders. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting and resolving software defects, preparing operational instructions and technical documentation, and collaborating with clients and end users to evaluate system capabilities, incorporate feedback, and continuously improve product functionality and operational effectiveness.\nThis position requires a minimum of two days per week in the office to facilitate collaboration with stakeholders, agile development teams, and subject matter experts across the organization. The Senior Software Engineer will also have opportunities to contribute to broader organizational initiatives through stretch assignments that support business growth and cross-functional collaboration. These may include supporting Internal Research and Development (IRAD) activities, establishing engineering best practices and guidelines, and driving improvements to processes, tools, and development methodologies in support of enterprise excellence.\nWhile Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly available to support software development, the successful candidate must demonstrate the technical proficiency and independent problem-solving skills necessary to perform their responsibilities without reliance on these tools. This is particularly important given the nature of the work, which may involve operating in controlled or classified environments where access to AI-assisted development tools is restricted or unavailable.\nThe successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a NATO Secret security clearance as a prerequisite for working on classified projects and accessing sensitive information.\nThe candidate will participate in engineering activities including but not limited to:\nWorking in an Agile team environment\nSoftware requirements analysis and reviews\nSoftware design analysis and reviews\nSoftware development, primarily using JavaScript/CSS/HTML\nUnit and E2E testing and documentation\nIntegration and deployment\nProblem Solving\nMentoring Junior & Intermediate Software Engineers.\nBasic Qualifications\nDegree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.\nProven Full-Stack development experience throughout the software engineering processes from planing, design, development to deployment.\nExperience with development operations with tools such as docker/podman and Kubernetes.\nProven experience leading Agile/Scrum software development practices.\nWell organized, capable of planning, scheduling, reporting program status and prioritizing work.\n5-10 years' work general development experience with preference given to experience in JAVA & HTML/JS/CSS\nEligible to obtain North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret clearance in a timely manner\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills in English.\nAbility to communicate complex topics to general audiences.\nDesired Skills\nApplied Generative AI experience for software development.\nExperience with micro-services and API development.\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.\nKnowledge of security standards like OAuth2 and JWT.\nBackground in regulated or defence environments.\nAbility to create quick UI mock-ups with tools such as Figma or Adobe XD.\nFamiliar with build tools and creating pipelines in GitLab.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nKnowledge of software requirements writing.\nActive Security Clearance (NATO Secret Level)\nKnowledge of Liniux commands and scripting in Bash\nFamiliar with development tools such as Visual Studio Code and Virtual
