This work involves working on cutting edge HPC technologies to ensure that scientists and engineers will be able to fully utilize modern HPC systems.\nWe are seeking a mid-career level HPC Software Engineer who will work on a HPC Research and Development (R&D) customer contract. The candidate will be an active member of the Technical User Support (TUS) team, interacting with the team, TUS team lead, program Chief Scientist, Customers, users, and focused on a specific R&D customer.\nThe TUS team is responsible for working with HPC users to achieve faster \"time to science\". You will work closely with the users to port, optimize, and parallelize codes to the users’ requirements.\nThis position will be focused on a specific customer supporting their workflow, modeling and simulation, and data requirements and working with the program Chief Scientist, TUS team lead, and others to design and implement solutions to meet the customer’s requirements.\nYou will also be involved in system performance analysis through benchmarking, tuning libraries, and generally focused on scientific modeling, numerical processes, and other scientific software and workflow issues. You will investigate, analyze, and make recommendations regarding user codes and other HPC software issues.\nThe work will be done using best practices needed to take full advantage of the program’s HPC resources, research storage systems, and secure computing environment. You will also be responsible for providing end-user support for login procedures, thin-client access, desktop/workspace familiarization, and modeling and simulation software environment setup on RHEL/SE Linux HPC systems. This support helps users adapt to a production shared resource, its scheduling system, and its high-performance data storage systems.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in STEM related discipline and a minimum of 8+ years of professional level experience\nAround 5 years of experience developing and using modeling and simulation software in heterogeneous, multi-platform environments\nWorking with HPC users workflow for mod/sim problems and GUIs\nKnowledge of High Performance Computing (HPC) environment and related technologies\nDemonstrated proficiency with BASH and Korn\nLinux Operating System proficiency, ability to solve end-user computer system problems while working independently in a lab environment.\nTop Secret/SCI level with a ci poly required to start the role \nDesired Skills\nDemonstrated proficiency with Fortran, C, and/or C++\nRevision control software (CVS, SVN, Git)\nBuild/install tools (e.g. CMake, Makefile, autoconf)\nStrong ability to analyze, debug, and maintain the integrity of an existing code base\nDemonstrated proficiency in software development process including requirements, use cases, design, coding, documentation and testing of scalable, distributed applications in a Linux environment\nExperience with Python and Perl\nAgile process and JIRA\nAI/ML/Neural Networks experience\nProficiency in basic software practices such as coding standards, unit testing, and configuration management\nA results-oriented team player, creative thinker, and problem-solver with strong communication skills\nSuperior programming skills and excellent attention to detail\nGood organizational skills to balance and prioritize work\nProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice\nPay Information\nFull-Time Salary Range: $148300.00 - $275500.00\nAt Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
