In this high-impact, hands-on leadership role, you will bridge strategic architectural vision with end-to-end execution; partnering directly with software architects and product owners to design, modernize, and scale distributed microservices, containerized platforms on Kubernetes, hybrid cloud infrastructure, secure CI/CD pipelines, and multi-language software solutions.\nKey Responsibilities:\nArchitectural Leadership & Execution: Partner with architects to translate system vision into scalable, resilient, and production-ready microservices and distributed capabilities.\n Platform & Infrastructure Modernization: Define and implement robust container orchestration patterns (Kubernetes), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and secure, enterprise-grade CI/CD and automation frameworks.\nCross-Team Technical Guidance: Act as the lead SME across multiple Scrum teams, resolving complex system integration challenges and ensuring architectural alignment across the program.\nEngineering Excellence & Mentorship: Champion software engineering best practices, modern DevSecOps standards, and continuous delivery while mentoring senior and mid-level engineers to elevate overall organizational maturity and delivery velocity.\nBasic Qualifications\n Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline (Master’s preferred), or equivalent experience.\nExperience: 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership in software architecture and distributed systems.\n System Architecture & Virtualization: Proven expertise in designing, decomposing, and delivering scalable microservices, distributed systems, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).\n Container Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (deployment manifests, Helm charts, stateful/stateless workloads, cluster networking, service discovery) and container ecosystems.\n Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Demonstrated experience architecting and managing hybrid/cloud infrastructure using automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.\n Integration & Troubleshooting: Proven track record of integrating distributed systems via REST APIs, message brokers, and event-driven patterns, with strong diagnostic skills across Kubernetes, networking, and OS environments (Linux/Windows).\nCommunication & Documentation: Demonstrated ability to author clear architectural documentation, define technical standards, and communicate complex concepts effectively to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nDesired Skills\n Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of Mission Planning Environment (MPE) software systems and workflows.\nPolyglot Engineering: Proven development proficiency across modern languages and frameworks, including Python, C#/.NET, Java, and TypeScript/React/JavaScript.\n DevSecOps & Quality Assurance: Working knowledge of enterprise CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, and system levels), and DevSecOps practices-including SAST, SCA, and vulnerability management.\n Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Experience authoring Architectural Decision Records (ADRs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and standardized onboarding materials to institutionalize system knowledge and reduce key-person dependency.\n Agile Technical Leadership: Demonstrated track record of serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical mentor across integrated Scrum teams in an Agile delivery environment.\nPay Information\nFull-Time Salary Range: $120600.00 - $224000.00\nAt Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
