The project controls activities include oversight of all items part of the project lifecycle after award: project kickoff, project setup, project tracking, contract management, change order control, project billing, project reporting, project forecasting, and project closeout. This position works in close partnership with the Project Management and Regional Operations Leadership teams to ensure projects are delivered on budget. \nKey Responsibilities \nMaintain Standard Operating Procedures: \nEnsure that standard operating procedures for cost controls are followed \nAs systems and processes are improved, help ensure standard operating procedure documentation is updated \nTraining: \nPartner with Area Managers and Regional Director of Planning & Controls to tailor training to regional needs regarding our standard operating procedures \nHelp update training materials as needed as standard operating procedures are improved over time \nPerform regular training to bring all Project Managers and Front-Line Supervisors, both new and existing, up to established standards relative to their position \nEstimating Support: \nSupport estimating effort as needed and participate in bid reviews to ensure estimates fall in line with historical production, costing, and margins. \nCreate feedback look to pre-construction of production and cost history as well as project execution best practices to incorporate at the time of bid. \n\nSupport and enforce SOPs for the following aspects of the project lifecycle: \nConstruction Kickoff and budget creation \nProject schedule creation and updates \nProject Setup (Interface requirements, contract setup, and budget setup) \nDaily time and productivity entry \nUtilization of the purchase order system to track committed cost \nDaily, Weekly, and Monthly Costing, Reporting, and Forecasting \nContract management and change order control \nProject Billing \nProject closeout with lessons learned \nSupport the month end close process with the following: \nAuditing of submitted accruals by project managers and clerks \nAid project managers in the project forecasting process to ensure accuracy \nAs needed, mobilize to site to conduct project audits, support project performance turnarounds, and perform new staff training \nProject Auditing: \nRegularly perform project audits to ensure project managers are adhering to our standard operating procedures; these audits will flow into a pass rate KPI that the regions are measured against \nQualifications & Core Competencies \nMinimum of 10 years of experience in the construction of industrial projects. \nCompletion of OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training. \nExperience with HCSS Heavy Job or similar job costing program. \nExperience with P6 or similar scheduling software. \nExperience with Viewpoint or similar accounting software. \nProficient with all Microsoft Office products. \nProficiency with technical writing. \nDriver’s license with a clean driving record and maintenance of such driving record. \nPass Loenbro Background check. \nHumble, Hungry and Smart \nPhysical and mental ability to address the potential hazards on project sites \nMinimum of 4 years of experience as a Project Manager in any field. \nReporting \nThe Project Controls Manager reports to the Regional Director of Planning and Controls.\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment\nThe physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
