You will work closely with Platform Engineers, Architects, Product Owners, Central Cloud Engineering, Cyber Security, and delivery teams to improve delivery, strengthen controls, and simplify platform operations.\nThis role succeeds when teams can release changes safely, recover quickly from issues, meet cloud engineering standards, and spend more time delivering value than managing infrastructure.\nWhat You will Do\nBuild and Improve Platform Engineering\nWe are investing in modern engineering practices that make our platforms easier to build, operate, and support.\nYou will:\nDefine and promote DevOps, DevSecOps, and Platform Engineering practices across the Data Platform capability.\nDevelop reusable automation, CI/CD pipelines, engineering templates, and self-service tooling that help teams move faster.\nImprove platform onboarding and delivery through Infrastructure as Code, automation, and standard patterns.\nReduce operational complexity by replacing manual processes with repeatable engineering practices.\nStrengthen Reliability, Security, and Compliance\nWe believe reliable and secure platforms are built into the engineering\nprocess, not added afterwards.\nYou will:\nImprove monitoring, observability, alerting, operational visibility, and service health across platform services.\nEnsure AWS services and platform components align with standards and controls defined by Central Cloud Engineering and Cyber Security teams.\nIdentify, prioritise, and coordinate remediation of vulnerabilities, cloud configuration findings, compliance gaps, and operational risks.\nLead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities that strengthen platform resilience.\nMaintain operational documentation, controls, and evidence required for audit and compliance reviews.\nEnable Faster Delivery\nWe want teams to spend less time managing environments and more time delivering solutions.\nYou will:\nWork with Architects and Engineering teams to implement approved designs using standardised tooling and deployment practices.\nCoordinate release readiness, environments, and operational support for new platform capabilities.\nSupport onboarding of services and data integrations into Corporate Data Cloud.\nUse operational metrics and engineering insights to reduce deployment risk, lead time, recurring incidents, and technical debt.\nExplore AI-assisted operations, automation, and operational intelligence capabilities that improve service health and engineer productivity.\nLead and Partner\nWe work collaboratively across engineering, architecture, security, and operations teams.\nYou will:\nCoach and support engineers across DevOps and Platform Engineering disciplines.\nPartner with Product Owners, Architects, Central Cloud Engineering, Cyber Security, and delivery teams to resolve dependencies and achieve shared outcomes.\nRepresent Data Platforms within operational governance, cloud compliance reviews, and engineering forums.\nCommunicate platform health, risks, vulnerabilities, and delivery progress clearly to stakeholders.\nPromote knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and practical engineering standards across the team.\nAbout You\nYou are an experienced DevOps or Platform Engineering professional who enjoys improving reliability, simplifying operations, and helping teams deliver technology more effectively.\nYou combine strong technical skills with practical judgement, collaboration, and a continuous improvement mindset. You are comfortable working across engineering, architecture, operations, and security teams while balancing delivery speed, platform stability, and compliance requirements.\nYou Will Bring\n6+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or related technology disciplines.\nExperience supporting enterprise Data, Analytics, or Cloud platforms in production environments.\nStrong knowledge of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automation, configuration management, and release engineering practices.\nPractical experience with AWS and modern Data Platform technologies such as Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or equivalent cloud-based solutions.\nExperience implementing cloud engineering standards and remediating security vulnerabilities, compliance findings, and operational risks.\nKnowledge of monitoring, observability, incident management, problem management, and service reliability practices.\nUnderstanding of cloud security controls, operational risk management, audit requirements, and IT service management principles.\nExperience leading technical work and collaborating across matrixed delivery teams.\nStrong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.\nExperience working within regulated or operationally complex environments is advantageous.\nA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nHow We Work\nWe automate wherever it improves safety, speed, reliability, or consistency.\nWe build platforms that are secure, resilient, scalable, and easy to operate.\nWe favour reusable tooling, common patterns, and self-service capabilities over one-off solutions.\nWe learn from production, measure outcomes, and continuously improve.\nWe work closely with engineering and control functions to ensure the compliant path is also the simplest path.\nWe believe the best solutions are created through collaboration, ownership, and shared learning.\nWhy This Role Matters\nEvery analytics, automation, machine learning, and AI initiative depends on reliable platform services and strong engineering foundations.\nAs DevOps Lead, you will influence how Data Platform capabilities are built, secured, deployed, and operated.
